I did mention this was going to be a shitshow, right? Guiliani wants to get involved in his first federal court case in nearly three decades.
Twitter is saying nice Mr Giuliani lied to the court in his submssion. He claims he is a member of the bar in Washington DC. But he has been suspended from the bar for not paying his subs.
I would be quite frankly surprised if the above were not true. Shame, I was hoping we'd get some blatant perjury.
It's ok, he's doing it live and in person right now.

Heh, I like how Pennsylvania court orders start 'AND NOW'.
It's like a Daily Express headline

In some states they start with "Now comes the plaintiff".
See with this, the AND NOW makes me think of deep dramatic voice cinema trailer, and 'Now comes the plaintiff' makes me think of a Western for some reason.

what i'm sure i posted this hours ago. Did I?

I'm not a lawyer, but I'm sure it's supposed to be a bad thing when a lawyer's spoken arguments bear no relation whatsoever to the written materials they have submitted.

Sounds like a variant of the Chewbacca defense. Unfortunately for Rudy, judges are probably more sensible than juries.

Meanwhile at the Pennsylvania state supreme court, the Tump campaign have lost their case re: observers.

How is it when the big name TV talk-show "lawyer" parachuted in to plead at the last minute tries to hand 300 photos to the judge that weren't in the case file?

Is that something that really happened? I mean you would probably start by apologising profusely, which I am sure will come as a surprise to nobody.

Certainly something I saw referenced, although I can't find the live-tweet of it now.

Also, is it bad when the state Supreme Court rules that one of your complaints is about something that's perfectly legal under state law while you are pleading for the Federal Court to intervene, and the defendants cite it as precedent during their rebuttal?

Oh, and that one of the arguments for your case being dismissed is the legal principle of abstention - that the Federal Courts shouldn't rule while the case is outstanding before state courts.

The thing about this post is that it could be recycled for so many situations over the last ten years and almost certainly useful for the future as you helpfully didn't specify what he was involved in *this time*

It's worth following the thread for the comedy of this. And to see if Rudy gets disbarred for it.

FFS! That sounded like a courtroom drama film written by those two writers from those Mitchell & Webb sketches, who are too lazy to do any research.

It's still going. Rudy is trying to answer a legal question about precedent from the judge by having someone* talk in court as a witness about a case where he (the someone) was a plaintiff.

* Another lawyer on the case.

At what point does this stop being a lawsuit and start being a lolsuit*?

Meanwhile, the Wayne county (Detroit, Michigan) board of elections is deadlocked on certifying their votes. It's a board with two Democrats and two Republicans that have to sign off on the vote totals.

If they can't decide, then it goes to the state board. Which is also 2D and 2R, with the wife of one of the Rs a plaintiff in one of the dismissed Trump campaign lawsuits.

And without Detroit area votes, Trump likely wins Michigan.

And if that didn't do it, Giuliani not understand the concept of review standards is a pretty good moment.

The state's deadline for certification is Dec 13th. The Federal safe harbor date by which electors need to be certified is Dec 8th.

So there's a play being made here to not certify Michigan's results, and ignore the election results there to appoint Trump electors.

It's a ploy that's been rejected by GOP majority leaders in a number of states, though, including Michigan. It also raises a hell of a lot of questions. For starters, appointing new electors would almost certainly need legislation to alter the electoral code of Michigan, and I can't see that getting past the veto of Gov. Whitmer.
