I can’t even find the emergency alert setting on my iPhone.
Edit: ah, a google search reveals all

Yes, I had to google it too. (It's Settings, Notifications, then scroll all the way to the bottom.)

There does not seem to be an Emergency Alert History though.
Here in the Netherlands we've had Emergency alert and Amber alert tests over the last couple of years. I don't remember if I explicitly deleted the messages, but certainly don't have any now.
You do know that come the apocalypse phones won't work?border_reiver wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2023 6:23 pmBoth my phone - Google Pixel 4a, and husband's - Pixel 3, went off bang on time. Virgin network. And my emergency notifications setting shows a record of it. So bring on the apocalypse, I'm ready for it.
Don’t be silly, how would we get Uber Eats delivered then?Tessa K wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2023 6:41 pmYou do know that come the apocalypse phones won't work?border_reiver wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2023 6:23 pmBoth my phone - Google Pixel 4a, and husband's - Pixel 3, went off bang on time. We'd probably be eating each other before too long.Grumble wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2023 9:53 pmDon’t be silly, how would we get Uber Eats delivered then?Tessa K wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2023 6:41 pmYou do know that come the apocalypse phones won't work?border_reiver wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2023 6:23 pmBoth my phone - Google Pixel 4a, and husband's - Pixel 3, went off bang on time. There will be delivery drivers aimlessly riding round on bikes, stuck in a behavioural loop, so we can knock them off and eat themEl Pollo Diablo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 10:17 amYes, but can we eat each other on demand, via an app?
Trouble is with the wealth they have there can't be many companies they haven't got some link toscience_fox wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 11:11 amAnd of course yet more Tory corruption: Company who ran it belongs to the father of Sunak's wife. Keep it in the family! (and links to Russia via Blackrock too).
Who needs evidence.
There are never any bikes in post-apocalypse movies and tv shows.Tessa K wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 12:35 pmThere will be delivery drivers aimlessly riding round on bikes, stuck in a behavioural loop, so we can knock them off and eat themEl Pollo Diablo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 10:17 amYes, but can we eat each other on demand, via an app?

There's been one or two, and I responded pretty positively each time, thinking that those people were sensible. The only one I can specifically remember is a bit in World War Z where they use bikes because they're quiet - there are definitely a couple of others though. I've assumed that they mostly use cars because things are mostly set in the US (see Tessa K's point about Amsterdam). And also Mad Max wouldn't be the same if it was all on BMXes.shpalman wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 3:21 pmThere are never any bikes in post-apocalypse movies and tv shows.Tessa K wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 12:35 pmThere will be delivery drivers aimlessly riding round on bikes, stuck in a behavioural loop, so we can knock them off and eat themEl Pollo Diablo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 10:17 amYes, but can we eat each other on demand, via an app?
I believe that there are apps for that purpose, yes.El Pollo Diablo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 10:17 amYes, but can we eat each other on demand, via an app?
Post apocalypse films often involve travelling long distances cross country to a place of safety or to find someone. As the US is so big, it would be a very long film if they travelled by bike. It would be different if, eg, they were trying to get across Wales.monkey wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 4:15 pmThere's been one or two, and I responded pretty positively each time, thinking that those people were sensible. I always thought I'd be riding around on my bike in the event of some sort of apocalypse (if I didn't just give up and let it happen, which is more likely). They're quiet, efficient, easy to maintain, and don't need fuel.
But does a bicycle leave you mobile enough to to scavenge? As for fuel, the answer is to be brutal enough to pillage, to wage war for a tank of juice.monkey wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 4:15 pmThere's been one or two, and I responded pretty positively each time, thinking that those people were sensible. A tricicyle might be better with a little trailer on the back.EACLucifer wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 9:30 amBut does a bicycle leave you mobile enough to to scavenge? A cargo bike would.EACLucifer wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 9:30 amBut does a bicycle leave you mobile enough to to scavenge?
