North Korea

Oh no, they're playing sad music in North Korea.

A despicable person, responsible for the deaths of thousands, vain and obese, utterly incompetent but propped up by fanatical cultists, and yet this man became one half of the unlikely friendship between the two leaders of the USA and North Korea, forming a deep and loving bond across the continents. His friend Kim Jong Un was pretty despicable as well.

Who does anyone fancy as next leader? Sounds like they have a girl Kim ready and waiting. Interesting script development.

He's not dead yet.

He's getting better.

Downing Street has announced Jong Un is "in excellent spirits".

This time, however, the rumors feel different. The talk that Kim Jong Un had some kind of heart surgery has had a stubborn persistence, making the real question his condition.

Some experts agree that this time it seems like more than the usual scuttlebutt.

“We are potentially facing a serious crisis,” said Andrei Lankov, a respected historian of North Korea, adding that he believes that something is “definitely wrong” with Kim.
When I asked Lim Jae-cheon, a Kim family expert at Korea University in Seoul, about Kim Yo Jong’s prospects a few years ago, he almost spat out his coffee. “She can’t be leader,” he said. “She’s a female.”

I can’t see how Kim Yo Jong could become the leader. But I also can’t see how she could not become the leader. There’s no one else.
From the Wash Post, may be behind paywall.

He's been moved to intensive care but it's just a precaution, there is nothing wrong with him, he's not in hospital at all.

Any suggestion he'll be recuperating in Chinese Chequers?

I realised last Thursday he had a problem when he only wrote two operas before breakfast.

Surely if he was dead even NK wouldn’t keep that secret? I’m sure they would if he was merely incapacitated though.

That might depend on state of the power struggle to succeed him.

From what I have read, when previous Kims died, NK let the world know quickly.
There have been other times when previous Kims were rumoured to be deceased, and it turned out they weren't.

Not dead yet
This third source believes Kim is definitely not dead and notes there have been no unusual movements of North Korea’s military or security, and no visible ceremony preparations or signs of jockeying for power. This fits with what the South Korean government has been saying all week. As well as some U.S. sources.

North Korea’s Kim Jong Un is either dead, brain-dead or just fine, depending on which Asian media report you believe.
A Hong Kong broadcast network claimed Saturday that Kim died, citing a “very solid source.” A Japanese magazine, meanwhile, reported late Friday that he is in “a vegetative state.” On Kim’s home turf, the North Korean media has acted as if everything is perfectly normal.
