The UK government loses supreme court fight over bedroom tax.

The Supreme Court has ruled that couples where one member is disabled can have a "spare" bedroom to store medical equipment. Fantastically, it was a unanimous decision and makes it harder for the government to ignore the Human Rights Act (something that shouldn't be necessary but most certainly is). In the judgement, Lady Hale said,
“The Human Rights Act is an act of the United Kingdom parliament and takes precedence over subordinate legislation such as the regulation in question … This means that incompatible subordinate legislation must simply be ignored.”

Good news.

If the Tories get a majority at the GE, watch them move to scrap the HRA.

Yet another reason, as if we needed it, to make sure they don't get a majority.

Given how the government have screwed over the disabled over the last 10 years I'm not sure it's correct to give them a score of nil.

Still - it's pulling a goal back for decency.
