This must be mildly scary for locals. I don't want to say "thoughts and prayers", but I hope you and yours are ok through all this.

This is plainly disrespectful to our great men and women in blue.
Thanks for that. Yes, it is scary. Didn't get a lot of work done today.Bird on a Fire wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 10:01 pmThis must be mildly scary for locals. I don't want to say "thoughts and prayers", but I hope you and yours are ok through all this.
Or BLM protests at exactly the same location, where the military fired on peaceful protestors.Brightonian wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 8:24 pmI'm probably influenced by protests in the UK where the police would simply plonk huge numbers of bodies in the way.dyqik wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 8:15 pmThey say they are outnumbered, and the Defense Department have blocked the National Guard - who were deployed in the summer for BLM protests - from assisting.Brightonian wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 8:04 pmWatching CNN who seem a bit over the top, surely? Don't the Capitol police (or capital police or DC police or whatever - it's so confusing) just have to pour in in numbers and shove the protestors out? They don't look armed.
The police response is a good demonstration of what it means to have white privilege.dyqik wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 10:12 pmOr BLM protests at exactly the same location, where the military fired on peaceful protestors.Brightonian wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 8:24 pmI'm probably influenced by protests in the UK where the police would simply plonk huge numbers of bodies in the way.
I just watched riot police gently ushering protestors down the steps of the Capitol. I don't think that gentle handling would have happened with BLM protestors.dyqik wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 10:12 pmOr BLM protests at exactly the same location, where the military fired on peaceful protestors.Brightonian wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 8:24 pmI'm probably influenced by protests in the UK where the police would simply plonk huge numbers of bodies in the way.
Im not sure what other word to use for the armed MAGAs storming the Capitol in an attempt to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power.Bird on a Fire wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 9:58 pmHmm. Trump doesn't
Why aren't they being arrested? Too busy taking selfies I guess.Brightonian wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 10:17 pmI just watched riot police gently ushering protestors down the steps of the Capitol. Treason is strictly for declared war. Sedition and Insurrection are the relevant terms, and have similar penalties under law.bjn wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 10:18 pmIm not sure what other word to use for the armed MAGAs storming the Capitol in an attempt to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power.Bird on a Fire wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 9:58 pmHmm. Trump is being sidelined. About f.cking time.dyqik wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 10:16 pmIt sounds like the military* is taking orders from Pence, Pelosi, Schumer, McConnell and Hoyer, rather than Trump.

All a damp squib I reckon.KSNT News wrote: UPDATE: According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, protesters at the Kansas Statehouse obtained a permit allowing them to protest at the capitol. There was no breach. This permit allowed protesters to not only be on the lawn, but also inside the building.

Nothing of consequence was happening there, anyway.Brightonian wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 10:39 pmAll a damp squib I reckon.KSNT News wrote: UPDATE: According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, protesters at the Kansas Statehouse obtained a permit allowing them to protest at the capitol. It was planned - they even printed hoodies.JQH wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 10:43 pmLast few days Natural News have been predicting something big happening on the 6th, which I must admit I hadn't given much credence to as Adams had also been predicting the arrest of Biden, Obama, AOC etc for treason.
Obviously this was all planned and equally obviously Mike Adams knew about it. If the FBI and/or Homeland Security aren't working him over right now they are being derelict in their duties.

No, it does. The SoS can close polling sites in black areas, for example, or they can pass more attempts to overturn Roe v Wade or impose onerous voting requirements.Little waster wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 10:47 pmFTFY
Hmm. A lot of the twitter left spent months moaning about police violence, but tonight are suddenly upset that the mob isn't being shot and beaten.Brightonian wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 10:17 pmI just watched riot police gently ushering protestors down the steps of the Capitol. The police appeared to be heavily outnumbered and the rioters were armed. They probably didn’t have many other optionslpm wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 10:52 pmHmm. The softly softly policing has worked well so far.
Don't be offensively stupid. Twitter is talking about how obvious the bias is, not lamenting the lack of police violence.lpm wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 10:52 pmHmm.
