Sponsored political advertising on Facebook

Post by jimbob » Mon Nov 18, 2019 8:29 pm

Anyone know how the electoral spending rules are being affected by facebook ads such as the one here:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-50296664

Which has now cropped up with the person's name beside it.

I'm seeing several supposedly independent ones and all supporting Johnson.

Given the effect of a facebook bubble, I guess it's going to be more in other places.
Have you considered stupidity as an explanation

I’ve seen about three different sets of pro Tory ads appear. One was supposedly paid for by an ex Tory MP. The other two were from weirdly named organisations I’d never heard of. I reported all of them to FB.

And I’ve seen nothing from Labour or the LibDems that wasn’t a share by someone I know.
