I assumed it was old enough to be a symbol with a more Ankh-Morporkian practicality like "you're probably going to want one of these".
Its wiki page describes competing claims that it stabbed Wat Tyler (probably fable) or beheaded St Paul (more likely).

My personal flag might have crossed knitting needles with a cake on one side of the X and a book on the other. Possibly sharpened knitting needles.

Apologies for the nerdery, but if the intention is to depict European institutions in a favourable light, then (a) there should be 12 stars rather than 15, (b) they should all be oriented the same way with a point at the top (i.e., the points should not radiating outwards from the centre of the circle), and (c) they should be yellow.
But maybe I'm missing a point and this is some obscure UK colony?

Apparently we used to breed swans for the King here in Bucks, which explains this weirdness.

Anyway, here in our village we have flag poles, a couple of hundred at last count, on houses, the chapel, shops and the school. At Christmas they have trees and lights, then we do Union Jacks and St Georges. A few people have still got their pride flags up, sometimes the occasional Saltire and Welsh dragon turns up and even a few NHS banners - but for the big occasions (the open gardens & scarecrow festival) it's always the Derbyshire flags.
Will this be illegal in the future? ( I didn't actually realise there is proper legislation as to what flags you can fly)

I was rather taken with the Pewsey flag. But if Pewsey, why not Cerne Abbas?
I understand that an early restoration of the giant mistakenly merged his nob with his navel, giving an exaggerated impression of his virility. Never mind; all the better to repel Danish invaders, London commuters and second home owners. They don't like it up 'em.

I'm terribly depressed by the fact I can't find a flag for my area, we're not North Yorkshire and we're not Durham or anything either. I live in 
a flagless place
