Thoughts and prayers, but now is not the right time.

I'm just going to go all Onion on this and just c&p this response each time.

Where were the armed security guards? Why did the employees not have guns? Why is open carry not happening at FedEx? What are FedEx afraid of?

The hard won freedom to enjoy firearms and the protection they give is in danger because people don't avail themselves of the protection that carrying a simple semi automatic handgun with an extended magazine affords. None of this wouldn't have happened if gun free zones had not been allowed to become the norm. #moreguns.

Anyway this is a FalSe fLaG operation with paid CrISis ActOrs, paid to wear makeup and fake blood, a conspiracy by left wing socialists to encourage attacks on the Second Amendment.

Most mass shootings don't even make national news, and there's more than one a day on average. (It does of course depend on the definition).

Here's Wiki's list for 2021: clicky. Up to March there has been 126 incidents, with 70 dead and 180 wounded.

In 2020 there were 446 deaths and 2,515 injuries. (clicky).

For context in 2018 the CDC say there were 38,390 gun deaths, of which 24,432 were by suicide and 13,958 were homicides, which includes accidental stuff.

I believe they don't sell handgrenades over the counter. Wonder why not? Could get statistics a real boost.

The only thing that stops a bad man with a hand-grenade is a good man with a hand-grenade... Or possibly a butterfly net.

It may seem to some that my response to this, of resolutely taking the piss, is in bad taste.
Yes, yes it is.
But I don't know how else to respond to an endless day by day creeping massacre of innocents, self inflicted by the dominant democracy on the planet.
What can one say, when even offering to keep the victim's families in your thoughts or offer our prayers sounds insincere and hackneyed with endless repetition?

My Dad and I saw the writing on the wall after Hungerford and we sold our guns and gave up our weekly meetings down the club. I don't regret that decision.

We did miss some of our friends down the club, the ones whose interest only lay in putting little holes in a one inch dot at 25 feet. Others gave us the creeps with their gun obsession. Creeps who later were put away for many years for firearms offences. Not piddling little offences but "importation of uncounted AKs by the ton into the UK and exporting them to countries with UN sanctions against them," sort of offences. Creeps who didn't care who got killed by those guns.

Don't trust anyone who likes guns.

Particularly anyone who likes guns over activities that happen to involve guns, like target shooting, hunting, marching up and down the square, etc.

Thanks, that was the point. It's the love of guns as guns rather than love of the sporting use. Although many would defend the sporting use of the 30 round magazine AR15 semi auto. Guess those hawgs will shoot back one day.

I think that dark humour is a normal reaction that many people have to horrible things happening. Whether or not it is acceptable or not depends on 2 things:

1. Your proximity to people affected by the event: A funeral is not a good place to make jokes about how someone died.

2. Who the butt of the joke is. You started sarcastically mimicking the usual right wing response to mass shootings, highlighting the absurd USian culture that allows them to happen. It would be a very different thing if you were making jokes at the victims' expense.

As for "thoughts and prayers", it's only the politicians who could actually fix things saying it I have a big problem with saying it. Mostly ordinary people are powerless and a gesture of sympathy is all they can do.

There have been at least 45 mass shootings in the past 30 days according to CNN. This piece lists each even by date, while this piece gives a geographical overview.

Aren't these just 'false flag' operations to further the radical socialist agenda?
I mean, why else would this be happening?
Time for a big fat one.

Looking at the map:

a) is this why survivalists like living in the Rockies?
b) despite the documentary series, Fargo and the surrounding area looks like a nice safe place to live

Yes, Minneapolis seems to be an exception, but overall the map seems to correlate with population density.

There are disaffected gun nuts everywhere, and a fairly large number of mass shootings are disgruntled employees or school pupils, which obviously correlates with population density. And that's before the apocalyptic types start traveling from Ohio to NYC (to give the most recent probable example) in order to shoot liberals.

Woke up this morning, read the news headlines and pulled the covers back over my head.

At this point what more can be said or done to make things change in the US? If not even Sandyhook could make a difference then I've really given up all hope.

Worse than Dunblane and having armed guards didn't prevent it.

While the people whose cooperation would be required aren't willing to permit anything effective to be done about these events there's hardly any point even discussing them.

Would that a good guy with a gun would get to him and all the other a..eh.le politicians who are wholly owned subsidiaries of the NRA
