That would make great Chuck Tingle cover art.

A long but comprehensive youtube video taking apart of cryptos, NFTs and all that malarkey.

Yup. The first comment seemed accurate.

From the video...
Our systems are breaking or broken, straining under neglect and sabotage, and our leaders seem, at best, complacent, willing to coast out the collapse. We need something better. But a system that turns everyone into petty digital landlords, that distills all interaction into transactions, that determines the value of something by how sellable it is and whether or not it can be gambled on as a fractional token, sold via micro-auction, that's not it.

Well the WWF are releasing some NFTs to support their environmental campaigning, so they must be good.

And I'm sure they considered the environmental impact of doing that too.

According to their website, they're using a proof-of-stake blockchain for this, so the environmental damage shouldn't be an issue. Of course they could do what they're doing without any kind of blockchain, but they want to cash in on the NFT hype while it lasts.

It still uses Ethereum though from what I understand

True. It's not clear to me exactly how much the Polygon network they claim to run on has to interact with the main Etherium network. I assume the Polygon network does most of its internal stuff using proof-of-stake, and occasionally updates to the main Etherium network. But I don't know how often they do that. As with everything else in crypto, it's hard to get a handle on what's actually going on because 99% of what's written about it is b.llsh.t designed to fuel hype rather than inform.

My avatar was a scientific result that was later found to be 'mistaken' - I rarely claim to be 100% correct
ETA 5/8/20: I've been advised that the result was correct, it was the initial interpretation that needed to be withdrawn
Meta? I'd say so!

I recommend this website: https://web3isgoinggreat.com/

Put together by Molly White who is doing an amazing job at listing NFT (and other web3) failures or scams.
