Plan D

The zero covid people haven't give up. What seemed like a good idea a year ago, doesn't look possible now as we have become resigned to endemicity and 50 000 to 80 000 covid deaths per annum in the UK.
We aim to achieve elimination by assembling rigorous scientific evidence and guidelines; sharing experience and expertise between countries; coordinating international strategies and actions; empowering citizen actions to improve public health, support vaccine uptake, and shape policy; addressing the role of inequality, inequity, and marginalisation in health; campaigning for vaccine equity and sharing; and challenging misinformation, nationalism, and exceptionalism.
In the Lancet, no less.

Which will run out first, the Greek alphabet for variants or the English (yes yes I know) alphabet for UK government plans?

Once we go past Plan Z, we could go the Excel route and go to Plans AA, AB, AC, AD, or we could just go to Plans Ð, Þ, Ƿ, Ȝ ...

One of my daughter's friends wants to bring thorn back to the English alphabet. But then they were studying Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic. As well as modules on German and French... well, High German and Medieval French.

Although she studied geography, my daughter hung out with a load of linguists, and her language skills are now pretty impressive.

þ Rose þ
maybe a less well known phrase - my mum used to use it occasionally.

Wait but surely closing pubs and restaurants is part of plan A to deal with the rising caseload?

Errr...no. You need to get to Plan C before there's any restriction on pubs.

And even then it's simply a switch to table service only - no queuing at the bar...

As I wrote on another thread - the virus doesn't stand a chance!!!

And after that we'll close pubs at 10. Just to add to the virus's humiliation.

Well no - I came here to see family and friends (and some work colleagues) because I couldn't persuade them all to come to Portugal ;)

Now my only difficulty is not killing them.
