Apparently he was working and just popped in. Of course, as PM he should have told them they were all breaking the law and must leave immediately.
Doesn’t really tally with reports that he instigated it, does it?

Well we know that's lie for a start.

What is here was dangerous and repulsive to us.
This place is best shunned and left uninhabited.

Meanwhile Grant Schapps has stated that Johnson wasn't partying because he was mourning the death of his mother, which was nearly a year after the party.
Have you considered stupidity as an explanation

Looks like he's finally pissed off even those who have been covering for him up till now. Surely he can't hang on.

Don’t bother watching the full Panorama. Everything of interest was in the twitter clip. The programme as a whole was damage limitation for Boris Johnson and the Conservatives and an opportunity to try and both sides it with the Starmer Durham thing. Jesus I know Laura K gets some unfair and probably sexist criticism but any criticism she gets from this is richly deserved. Utter crap. Utter sh.t. Infuriating. It may be responsible for the total degradation of journalism world wide for the next century. Total bollocks. Jesus that is an hour of my life I won’t get back.

And as if to emphasise the difference new details/photos have emerged of a previously unreported party

Just been reading the latest batch of revelations on the beeb. It sounds exactly as I expected, which is depressing.

A failure of leadership and judgement.

Is that just Partygate or the last few years in general?

Opinium are releasing some new new polling on Twitter.

https://twitter.com/opiniumresearch/sta ... gC9frkQWVA

In the report I note that it’s clearly stated that the late announcement of the Met criminal investigation meant that some events were not investigated properly by Sue Gray.

Worst bits:

- sick / "altercation" between two individuals

- "got away with it"

- karaoke machine

- "don't wave bottles of wine"

And above all:

- nobody has investigated ABBA party

Well TBF if I had to work in close proximity with Johnson and his ilk I'd probably start to feel nauseous and want to start punching people too.

There's a certain level of baked-in insanity that we have got to the point where people are being seriously asked to look at pictures of parties and then decide whether the party is a party and which of the partying party-goers are partying at the party.

It's like the world's shittest Captcha*, f.ck knows what they are training the Google AI to do with this info?

Actually, Johnson's birthday party looks miserable as f.ck. Like a kid's party but no kids turned up.

And yet, despite that, it's a f.cking trillion times more exciting and crowded than most children's parties that year.

I don't get why the opposition aren't picking up on the fact that it doesn't matter if it was obviously a party or not.
The test in law was whether the gathering was "reasonably necessary for work"
It's not hard to work out that getting lashed at someone's leaving do fails that test.

I can't get past the "they were working under immense pressure" clams. It was 10 Downing st, not an ICU full of Covid patients !! Tossers.

Still amazed that fewer than 54 conservative MPs have a problem with this, with the minorly tin-hat caveat that conservative party internal processes aren't transparent and seem to have little regard for due process/reality. Can we actually trust reports of how many letters have been sent?
