Naturally there's been a huge amount of political cartoons in response to the war. This one hits hard. Not familiar with artist/publication.

No doubt all part of Putin’s cunning plan.
I’ve decided I should be on the pardon list if that’s still in the works

Jens Stoltenberg has announced that NATO will provide more support to Bosnia and Georgia; not sure exactly what that entails yet.

The Marsh Family came to notice for their musical response to the Covid pandemic, and this is their response to the War in Ukraine

Not really a response to this invasion, but I just read this Epitaph on a Tyrant.

Perfection, of a kind, was what he was after,
And the poetry he invented was easy to understand,
He knew human folly like the the back of his hand,
And was greatly interested in armies and fleets,
When he laughed, respectable senators burst with laughter,
And when he cried the little children died in the streets.

A Ukrainian response to the Pope's idea of having a Ukrainian and a Russian woman jointly holding a cross.

Reconcilian isn't going to be possible while the invasion continues.

Lies are being spread on Social Media about "Councils threatening people if they don't take in Ukrainian Refugees",

A FullFact article - https://fullfact.org/online/ukrainian-c ... -discount/

I've posted on our local 'Facebook' group to ask people to keep an eye out for the fake stories and to challenge people who are spreading the lies.

I wonder if that's ordinary British xenophobic paranoia, or Russian disinformation relying on British xenophobic paranoia, given how much Russian propagandists like the western far right and vice versa.

The Guardian - Ukrainian workers flee ‘modern slavery’ conditions on UK farms

The farm sector in this country has always been this evil. I grew up in a rural area, and if you bothered to pay attention, you knew. Most people didn't bother to pay attention. People would bleat about young Britons refusing to work on farms, yet the people that I knew who tried were all rejected - the gangmasters didn't want witnesses, or people they could not so easily control by isolation+theft of passport.

A shortage of timber supplies seems to be affecting Russian furniture production...

There have been a lot of responses to the small table meeting, including one where Shoigu's actually in Putin's lap. I rather like this one, featuring Vitaly Kim, regional governor of Mikolaiv

If this is true, I don't think my shame in my country could get greater !!!!!

Issuing visas for everyone in a family except one child. Guess what, the family doesn't travel. Our sh.t-aweful government can say "we've issued X-thousand visas. Ain't we great " but many simply aren't used.

Just heard the family’s chief racist banging on about how her friend who works in the housing department tells her that all the Ukrainian families are receiving £1,700 per month to look for accommodation even if they are already being put up by a British family. Any idea what she is going on about?

How it started:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... ndist.html
Russia has thwarted a plot to assassinate one of the Kremlin's chief propagandists, Vladimir Putin claimed today.

Putin said his security services thwarted a 'terrorist group' plotting to kill a 'notable Russian TV journalist', before state media announced the target was Vladimir Solovyev and claimed the plotters were 'neo-Nazis' acting on orders from Kyiv.

how it's going

Russian FSB has fabricated a "plot" to kill Russian TV propagandist Solovyov. Allegedly by Ukrainian SBU and Nazis. One of the "evidences" is neonazi inscription on a book. Signed by "Signature unclear". Yes, FSB got an order to sign it with a "signature unclear" - and did so!

Ukrainian refugee left homeless after UK host demanded bill money

I've been fully expecting that some people would look at the £350 a month as a money making opportunity (though I don't know what's behind this particular case, perhaps the host found she couldn't get the £350 from the government until later or not at all or something).

On a lighter note, I was out in Lisbon the other night and someone dropped their glass, smashing it. Normally this would elicit cheers and clapping from the assembled punters, but this time somebody yelled out "Nastrovia!" and someone else "Spasibo!", so apparently dissing Russia is the new cool thing with the youth.
