Why aren't empty filling stations being mentioned on the news
Why aren't empty filling stations being mentioned on the news
Some of our local filling stations were closed at the weekend. I had to buy some Premium Diesel (£2.00 a litre) at one that was still open, as that was all they'd got - but most of its pumps were locked. There are some faint indications on the web this might be frequent situation in the SE at the moment.
The protests at fuel depots are being reported.
Are the shortages so localised that they aren't news yet? Or is this a deliberate thing to try and reduce panic buying? Or what?

No problems here, not very far from you Ivan, so I think it must have been either very localised or a very patchy thing.

Asda and Sainsburys had no diesel at the weekend, but all the smaller local filling stations were fine - just a few localised supply issues hopefully.

Our local Sainsbury's had no fuel today (Midlands) but just noticed in passing so don't know about others.

Speculating wildly but isn’t this what you would expect to see in a scenario where JIT supply chains are starting to break down even though there is no significant underlying issues with supply and demand?
