tw.tter
Re: tw.tter
Wow - I'm not on twitter but I appreciate a lot of folks are and I find this extraordinary. What a f.cking toddler. Not only is he burning $44Bn on buying a platform he seems intent on shredding but he's also taking Tesla down with it by association.
If/when the collapse comes he'll be in every management book as a case study about how not to run a business.

Re: tw.tter
Twitter is now banning links to other social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Post, Hive, etc.
Re: tw.tter
The website spacekaren.sucks was set up to redirect URLs, a la tinyurl.com, to bypass such blocking.
In further news, The Wall Street Journal!!!!! has published a “how to Mastadon” guide.
Elon dun f.cked up.

Re: tw.tter
If I knew how, I'd be tempted to create a Twitter bot that autoreplies "Mastodon" to tweets that refer to "Mastadon".
And then see how long it took to get banned.
Re: tw.tter
I'm tempted to write something on mastodons and see if that gets flagged
it's okay to say "I don't know"
Re: tw.tter
They are also now suspending any user that mentions their user names at other sites.
Re: tw.tter
That will be me gone then, my mastodon id is on my twitter info page.
However, I’ve not logged in since I was asked to give my phone number to ‘confirm’ my account after ‘suspicious’ activity . Given that they never knew my phone number, that was obvious phishing for my contact details.
Re: tw.tter
The EU regulations state unambiguously that this is prohibited.

Lol, he's done a poll asking if he should step down, and claims it's binding.

it was also if you said "dot" which I found hilarious, since I usually refer to dot social for masto.

Re: tw.tter
I’ve got my Mastodon id in my Twitter user profile. They don’t seem to mind
Re: tw.tter
It looks like they’ve backed down on that particular stupidity.

Have you considered stupidity as an explanation

Jared Kushner will be announced at Twitter CEO by the end of the week. Possibly by the end of the day.Bird on a Fire wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 12:25 amLol, he's done a poll asking if he should step down, and claims it's binding.

Then it's truly done for.
Re: tw.tter
I did wonder what the plan was, because it's one of those polls where if you vote for change, you don't actually know what you'll get.

Re: tw.tter
It's all just rather pointless, particularly with his later, "Be careful what you wish for" tweet.
Whilst there's been some doubt cast on some of the "Twitter Files" claims, even if partially true it would seem the company was permanently dancing on the edge of disaster. Even if all this came as a big shock to him having bought the company, his theatrics don't give any impression he actually has a sensible way out for the company.
A further comment of his, along the lines of "anyone who could fix Twitter won't go near it" just adds to it. So, stay or go, it's still likely done for.
And if the stories of him at SpaceX and Tesla are anything to go on, all he's been good for is publicity and maybe pulling in more finance, but needs to be heavily managed to keep him from going ridiculously off piste. Whenever he actually tries to make any decisions of his own they go badly wrong.
