Though to be fair, being the head of HR at a company that doesn’t offer employees toilet paper can only be marginally more fun than being head of engineering when the CEO is randomly disconnecting sensitive server racks.

If a San Francisco jury rules in the shareholder's favour, Mr Musk may be ordered to pay billions of dollars in damages.

He has already paid $20m to the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) for the 7 August 2018 tweet, while Tesla had to pay another $20m.

The SEC also removed Mr Musk as chairman of Tesla as a result of the tweet.

From my understanding about Teslas, drive train excellent and possibly still best in class, fit and finish ok to very poor, self driving a complete fantasy.

Probably a good idea. Text messages aren’t very secure and there are lots of cases of them being spoofed or intercepted.

Google or Microsoft Authenticator apps on a smartphone are usually thought of as more secure.

It would be a good idea to apply the policy to everyone. But what’s the point of making SMS 2FA available to paying customers?

Normally in such large sales, the payment comes in the form of stock or other financial instruments, which categorize the sale as capital gains, meaning it is taxed at a much lower rate. Halli, however, gladly paid the higher tax rate, having spoken publicly on many occasions about the benefits he has received from the Icelandic social system.

Rumour is that Twitter has managed to lose access to their internal root certificate authority and so can’t generate new certs. This happened because all the people with access to the root certificates were fired. Certificates are used to verify servers and establish secure connections between services. Certificates are now expiring and they can’t generate a new ones, Bad Things are happening as a result. This could be bad, as in very bad. With any luck terminal if they don’t have a decent disaster recovery plan.

There is most likely a disaster recovery* plan to deal with worst situations than this. It won't be fun, but then again, Elon will probably have fired the people in charge of disaster recovery.
