Post by Stephanie » Wed Apr 27, 2022 12:19 pm

This time it was a Tory doing it in the House of Commons

It beggars belief - this was a front bench Tory MP - FFS, even without considering the obvious issues, there are people sat behind you...

I suspect that it might have been a deliberate exercise in asserting how powerful the p.rn watcher is.

You don't get that when WFH.

Profanity filter replaces the 'o' in 'p o rn' in the url with a full stop - might be it

Was it Rees Mogg watching secretly filmed women's ankles?

I've just taken a break from editing the Mail On Sunday to say the Tory minister is the real victim here and all our criticism should be reserved for all those shameless harlots who are disgustingly taunting him by owning body parts that he finds stimulating.
This place is not a place of honor, no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here, nothing valued is here.
What is here was dangerous and repulsive to us.
This place is best shunned and left uninhabited.

the prime minister’s press secretary said the Conservative party did not have a problem with misogyny and sexism.
That could be read two ways ...

TBF JRM wouldn't stoop to using one of those ghastly modern mobile electronic communication devices.

All his erotica comes in the form of a series of black'n'white images in a What the Butler Saw machine to which his nanny furiously cranks the handle ...

This thread is going to degenerate really quickly isn't it.

Toffs like JRM probably pay people to act out the p.rn for them in tableaux vivants.

Shortened it by tweeting that story and using Twitter as tinyurl

A frontbencher, sitting next to a woman minister, when his party had been called out for misogyny.

I suspect EAClucifer is right about it being an expression of power.

No. It's nothing to do with power.

It's to do with men continually minimising p.rnography. The acceptance of the pornification of society. And the knee-jerk defence by useful idiots of one of the most vile capitalist exploitations on the planet.

I think in general you have a point. However in this case, not just watching p.rnography at work, but publicly watching it were women colleagues will see him watching it seems more than just a minimisation of it.

Why wouldn't a moron Tory scum MPs be confused by it all and watch p.rnography publicly, if women colleagues constantly spring to the defence of the p.rnography industry, praise p.rnography for its sex positive aspects and demand sex work be treated as any other work?

Schrödinger's p.rnography. It's a good thing half the time on a progressive forum like this. It's a bad thing the other half. I mean, great that some people here saying sensible things, apart from the schoolboy giggling, but unfortunately I know you'll jump back to the opposite view on the next thread along.

You're both right. Lpm sees the bigger picture. Jimbob is right that in this specific case it's also about power, men seeing themselves as above the laws/rules because of male privilege + class privilege. Watching pron where women can see it is a way of intimidating them/us.

Apparently it is two separate MPs
Now it's two male Tory MPs accused of watching p.rnography on phones in Commons

One MP said she had seen a male MP watching p.rnography in both Commons and at a committee and another Tory MP said she had seen a different male MP watching p.rnography and tried to take a photo.

Which makes LPM's point
