Getting on for forty years ago, a mate of ours got on one of those afternoon tv quizzes*. He was asked that question and didn't know the answer*. We didn't take the piss much at all*. Kinda fixes it in yer mind for good that does*.

Re: Who's next?
Thunder and heavy rain in London. Pathetic fallacy in action.
Re: Who's next?
It has both pathetic and fallacy in common with both the outgoing and incoming prime ministers.
It has reached the point at which myself and other half are daily (only half) joking about starving to death while working full time.
I don't like the sound of Truss' cabinet so far. When exactly did we find ourselves in the stupidest timeline of the multiverse?
Non fui. Fui. Non sum. Non curo.
Re: Who's next?
Every fired cabinet minister tonight wrote:Hi personal assistant, sorry I can't remember your name, but could you tweet out something like the following for me? Thanking you in advance.
"It has been a privilege to serve as X [can you add my job title, I forget it] for the past five months. I wish to thank all my colleagues for their support and wish them every success for the future. I am now returning to the backbenches where I will be a strong voice on behalf of my constituents in X [what's my constituency called? I think it has north in the name.]."
Do NOT add in anything that wishes the new PM a successful future.

This is quite some cabinet she's assembling.
This could be fun.

Re: Who's next?
The vacuum of government over the last two months was truly a golden age, compared to what came before and comes after.
Re: Who's next?
Thérèse Coffey as Deputy PM and Health Secretary
Cleverley as Foreign Secretary.
Previous Foreign Secretaries included Johnson and Truss - so maybe we have him to look forward to.
Have you considered stupidity as an explanation

I see Johnson and Truss took a private jet EACH to Scotland. c.nts.
Think it might be time for everybody to re-watch V for Vendetta.

Sorry, that should be relief.

Meta? I'd say so!

Re: Who's next?
ppl with "buying shares" kind of money seem to like this sort of thing. Truss was their choice after all

Coffey as Health Secretary? Have they looked at her? The stupidest timeline strikes again.

Re: Who's next?
Ranil Jayawardena as Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
Don't know a thing about him, which is probably in his favour. His wiki page reveals only that he grew up pretty near me (irrelevant), used to work for Lloyds bank (rather than directly for the fossil fuel industry, at least), and started an All-Party Parliamentary Group on Endangered Species a while back.
So maybe not completely sh.t. Important role at the moment, with the necessity of sorting out post-CAP rural payments etc etc. Fingers crossed he's at least better than JRM.
Anyone know owt about the fella?
ETA Based on his voting record he seems completely sh.t. Most worryingly,

There are other allegations in the public domain, or at least in the Whips' dossier, which was accurate about several Tory MPs so farTessa K wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 9:12 pmTruss has only had one affair*, hardly PM material

Re: Who's next?
It's quite a fossil-friendly government, what with Trevelyan and JRM and Truss herself all in important roles. Embarrassingly retrograde. Expect lots of new oil and gas projects, fracking, less investment in public transport and so on. And don't expect any of that to translate into lower prices for consumers, either.discovolante wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 10:11 pmOh wow she's a full on climate change denier eh, that bodes well.
Just when the US and Oz get their act together, at least relatively speaking, the UK is dutch-ovening itself.
Just as well they've made protesting illegal, or people might have kicked off.

Re: Who's next?
Trevelyan has since said positive things about net zero, but God knows what she thinks now. Maybe she's as adaptable in her beliefs as Truss and Johnson.

It's not like they have the competence to doing anything, either good or bad. Franking will fizzle, roads won't be built, deregulation will be too hard.
It's a 2 year vacuum, in which the relentless economics of cheaper and cheaper renewables will have unstoppable momentum. These idiots can't fight against that sort of force.
