And of course it depends how you define "leftists". A number of Labour MPs whom your average common spotted Momentum zealot might describe as Tory entryists bent undermining Labour (this would include Watson) walked before the new trigger ballot system did for them. Others walked a while ago, when the chance to run cities or museums came along.

A number of sitting Labour MPs believe that Corbyn is inherently unfit to be PM (see Rawnsley, here), but are keeping quiet for now through lack of other options, other than also walking. One of them (who has also walked, over antisemitism, he said) is actively supporting Johnson in Derby North, as we've seen elsewhere.

So, it's one of those irregular verbs.

I am a socialist
He is a Blairite centrist
They are red Tories...
Just tell 'em I'm broke and don't come round here no more.

But since apparently the sensible leftists like it, why have they not found it within themselves to get behind Corbyn for a better shot at getting some of it done?
Two reasons - many of them believe Corbyn is unfit for government, and many of them are simply keeping quiet over the manifesto for another two reasons - there's an election on, and they'd be deselected faster that you can say "trigger ballot".

it's not unreasonable to consider that campaigning in their own seats for their own re-election is supporting the party.

We really don't know what these "sensible leftists" think about the manifesto. And it's about more than the manifesto.
Just tell 'em I'm broke and don't come round here no more.
