I'm off to the pub for a lunchtime pint. Does anyone want to bet on her still being PM by the time I leave?
This is going to be touch and go.
I’m still on my second pint. I win.
It first was a rumour dismissed as a lie, but then came the evidence none could deny:

She's in post for another week until the leadership election is done.

A big result there for the much-fancied Lactuca family, they'll be dancing in the muddy fields of the Sto Plains tonight.

Why are they having a leadership election? The lettuce won fair and square. Why doesn't the King simply send for the lettuce right now?

We've had 4 vegetables in a row. Why not try a salad?

I'd be interested in your opinion of which PM was which specific vegetable.

I think that was the 1988 slogan of the short-lived Social Liberal Democrat pupal-state of the LDs.

Liz Truss spent longer in the stupid election campaign over the summer than she spent as Prime Minister.

I'm amazed that saying "I'm a fighter, not a quitter" failed to work. How can that not work? She said it in a confident voice and everything.

Cameron - cucumber - slick and shiny, f.ck all substance, looks like a dick.
May - broccoli - boring and unloved, not missed.
Johnson - pumpkin - bloated and orange, primarily used to scare children
Truss - kebab salad - clearly made sense to somebody who was obviously pissed, by the time they'd sobered up, it had already began to curl up and turn brown stinking up the place.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the Leader of the Conservative and Unionist Party.
It appears that Liz Truss’s resignation will set another unwanted record, by making her the first prime minister in recent history not to call the UK’s devolved leaders at any point while in office.

Under a modern convention, one of the first acts of a new prime minister is to make a courtesy call to the first ministers of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

I lost the 50p bet with MrsBJN that she'd be gone by Weds. So close....

Let us hope that the next PM is at least as much better than Liz Truss as she was better than Boris. Unlike Boris and Brexit, her crazy policies were easily and quickly reversed, and unlike Boris, she did not desperately hang on to power for months after it had become obvious that she was not wanted. Maybe th enext PM will at least not make things worse.

In light of the current political situation, I think the lettuce would rather romaine where it is.
