This queue.

Time to get the professionals in. Disneyland and Alton Towers.

They know the answer. Increase the capacity of the ride via multiplying the product.

20 queen boxes, not one.

Important that every experience is identical, all 20 attractions having soldiers and crowns and candles and all that stuff. Visitors must be unable to tell apart the one with the actual queen hidden inside a box. Each customer must experince exactly what they currently experience.

Should get the queue down to an hour.
The uncertainty of whether it's the 'real one' makes it a bit shroud-ing 'er catafalque, no?
Put a body part in each box for authenticity

Oh thank God it wasn't Boris doing a reading
I said the same thing to the wife.

We don't half do pomp and ceremony well.
So many rules, and everything worked out to the most insignificant detail. I just read that for the vigil that the grandkids took part in yesterday, Harry had to get permission from Charles to wear a uniform. He was allowed to wear one, but without any ER insignia on it. Wtf?

In a hundred years will they make Mummy style horror movies about a revenant Queen?

Of course they won't

In a hundred years humanity will be extinct

Generally yes, I gather; though I read that Queen Victoria wasn't*

That would be declaring loyalty to the previous monarch rather than the current one.

Wait, they have stolen my idea. They are holding three funerals. And we've only done the Westminster Abbey one.

Why not have three hundred funerals. Take this thing on tour.

Many years ago in "Yes, Prime Minister" Sir Humphrey explains how good funerals are for diplomacy, no pressure of a summit communique, no public glare on the meetings.

All the other uniforms had those insignia, but Harry's uniform had to have them removed because he does not perform any royal duties. Andrew was still allowed to wear them despite being relieved of royal duties, apparently because he is a vice admiral. It seems so petty and ludicrous.

I enjoyed the demonstration of volume control on the bagpipe in St George's Chapel, the bagpipes were faded out by having the piper physically wandering off.

The truck I was minding was doing the radio sound from Westminster Abbey. From our spot in Old Palace Yard we couldn't see much as the broadcast compound was fenced in, with black scrim concealing us. Would have been a great vantage point if we'd got up on the truck roof but everyone half-joking about snipers made that seem a bad idea. Our exit got blocked in by some limo but thankfully Joe Biden came back for it before we derigged. All the cops were getting selfies with it until someone senior came and barked at them.

Got to say, all the out of town police were lovely. The Met... some okay some very much not. And the biggest ballache by far was getting there the morning. We'd been warned to get in by 05:00 or we probably wouldn't get in at all, but not which routes were available. Every jobsworth was eager to tell you you can't go this way but no f.cker wanted to tell you which way you could go.

Remember, if you can't hear the bagpiper, he's almost far enough away.

Beware the bagpiper only goes quiet when they are ready to attack.

i.e., just before the bagpiper starts playing, which is the main weapon in the attack.

Private Eye cover is out - and a bit tame.

Not on the website yet. Not likely to be many cancelled subscriptions. But surely some.

I read somewhere that the massive queue was actually only 250,000 people all told. It's reckoned that about one third of those were tourists.

28,500,000 people in the UK watched the funeral live on TV. Less than the 31 million who watched the 2021 Euro Cup Final.

"Flunkey's Court Circular" says that she died at around 3pm though formal notification was delayed until family members had arrived at Balmoral.

Yeah I saw that. Surely it doesn't take days and days for 250k people to look at a box. They did it slow on purpose to look like people give a crap #queuespiracy

Were there many entrances or was it one line passing through? If it was just one, a throughput of one gawker/second would take almost three days.

According to the The Queue wiki page, clicky, She was beaten shufflers by Churchill, but people only had to wait 3 hrs to see Churchill. The Queen was also beaten by her dad.

She matched George V, Edward VII, and William Gladstone and The Queen beat her mum.

Looks to be on her way out.
You were 20 minutes early, according to the death certificate

She'd already died by the time I posted to say "maybe not" ;) but I hadn't seen all the Twitter gossip (my feed is mostly about birds)
