So, Kanye West went full crazy and is now seeing some consequences.

I'm absolutely fascinated by what happened to him that he became a white supremacist.

Some of his rantings seemed Black Hebrew Israelites influenced, an organisation that might slip under your radar if you only look at white supremacy as a root of racism and antisemitism. They are a deeply weird and deeply dangerous cult. Unfortunately, I've seen mainstream commentators refer to them as "black activists" or "black community activists" and similar, leading people to conflate them with groups like Black Lives Matter, which is a colossal slur against the latter sort of activist.

*Bear in mind for many antisemites this never progresses past point 1.

The antisemites are loving this. Right down to spraypainting swastikas and "Kanye was rite" on Jewish headstones in Chicago.

There's been a lot going on since the last post, but it's got worse, it can always get worse.

Meanwhile lots of "Kanye was right" sh.t from the antisemites. That and large groups of Black Hebrew Israelite cultists marching and chanting their support of him. When did those f.ckers get so many members? I haven't really got the time to properly rant about the dangers of supercessionism, but they really do exemplify them. And a lot of idiots dismiss the risk because they claim the only threat is from the far right, ignoring that a) a lot of antisemitism comes from and has always come from the left b) the Black Hebrew Israelite cult inspired a mass shooting in a kosher supermarket and c) if you ignored the fact they specifically appeal to black men, they look much like any (other) far right group.

He did mention the motorways -

I'm willing to bet that Hitler himself did not invent a microphone.

And that Ye uses a condenser mic, invented at Western Electric in 1916 by E. C. Wente.

I find it hard to work out how much of what he's spewing is "mainstream" antisemitism and how much is filtered through his own delusional thought processes (not referring to any specific mental health diagnosis, but he's certainly been prone to grandiosity and paranoia in other contexts).

On the plus side, while I'm not close with many (former?) mega fans of the bloke, I'd definitely say I'm seeing more dismay and repudiation than defence.

What a massive fall from grace. He's always been a bit of a jackass (to quote one B. Obama) but this is next-level awful. Literally "I like Hitler" FFS.

I'm also not really getting the rationale behind the face mask (should there be one). Mainly just adds to the "unstable" vibes. Like, we already know what you look like mate, you're not MF DOOM or p.ssy Riot or something.

For instance, currently trending on r/memes is Ye as a toilet from SpongeBob SquarePants. Harsh but fair.

Likewise, though then again, I don't tend to stay friends/in-contact-at-all with people who are tolerant of blatant antisemitism. I mean we're talking about someone who posted a swastika overlaid on a Star of David here, that's a very ugly symbol indeed.

He is, however, getting a lot of vocal support from one of Trump's key constituencies - a..eholes who want to hear famous people say the same bigoted sh.t they do because it makes them feel big and important.

Quite a bit of support he's getting is from the far right, but then elements of the far right have always been willing to see eye to eye with non-white antisemites, and Kanye West isn't going to put them off by challenging anti-black racism when he himself has repeated a number of anti-black tropes.
