Hang on a second - do undocumented migrants get to vote?
They don’t. ‘Jose’ interviewed in the article is an undocumented migrant and a Trump supporter (he wanted Trump to win even though he couldn’t vote).

I think TB's point is that even if undocumented migrants support Trump, they can't have contributed to his vote.

But those with the vote living in the same communities may well share the same concerns and will have seen how undocumented friends and families have been possibly adversely impacted by having people 'shipped' into their areas.
My avatar was a scientific result that was later found to be 'mistaken' - I rarely claim to be 100% correct
ETA 5/8/20: I've been advised that the result was correct, it was the initial interpretation that needed to be withdrawn
Meta? I'd say so!

Right - the way I read the article seemed to imply undocumented migrants were voting for Trump. Your second paragraph is a more likely explanation of where the rise in support for Trump comes from.

So businesses are free to hire undocumented migrants? I could well imagine Trump targeting that on his purge, unless of course Trump Towers / Mar-a-lago are full of undocumented workers doing his bidding for peanuts, then he has 'skin in the game' to keep them around.

No, it's illegal to hire undocumented migrants. They typically work for cash.

Trump is known to have hired undocumented workers, and probably still does.

Musk did work in violation of his student visa for several years.

Ah OK. Its clearer in the original article, but I was trying to avoid excessive quotation.
