The Washington Post is reporting that Trump is having trouble finding a local defence lawyer, with most of the options refusing to work for him.

Please please please let him decide to defend himself.

In parallel universe where the alien scriptwriters are doing a pure comedy version, instead of the mostly comedy one in this universe, they'd have him defend himself. The opportunities are endless.
"I call as my witnesses John Barron and David Dennison."
"Hang on, aren't those witnesses just you, doing a silly voice?"
"No your honor, they are here to testify I'm great in bed."
"I call Hillary Clinton to the stand. Crooked Hillary, did you or did you not put 30,000 emails in bleach?"
...
"Your honor, please instruct this witness to stop laughing."
"Take a look at these documents. What is written on them?"
"Declassified."
"Ah ha! So you admit they were declassified!"
"It's written in sharpie. You wrote it just a minute ago. The whole court saw you write it."
"I notice you are not wearing glasses."
"No."
"But I see those indentations on your nose!"
"Sure, yeah, I suppose that's because I wore sunglasses all morning. I don't wear glasses for eyesight."
"You expect the court to believe that? So how many fingers am I holding up?"
"Er... none?"
"Three! I was holding up three!"
"OK, maybe, but I couldn't see any because your fingers are really tiny."

Re: Indecision 2024
Unfortunately for the comedy musical hit about this case, he has lawyers, but not a local one experienced with this court and judge.
But that's a bad thing overall, as inadequate defence could be used to try and appeal the outcome.
Re: Indecision 2024
Watching the news pictures yesterday and hearing his lawyer speak outside the court I couldn't help wondering if the US isn't headed for another civil war. It's got enough angry people with guns to start one.

I've been wondering that for quite some time.
And remember that if you botch the exit, the carnival of reaction may be coming to a town near you.

An article in this week's Economist sets out that a Trump 2nd term will be much better organised to go about its vandalism than the 1st term. Some Trump-friendly think-tanks have creating the plans. They were unprepared for a Trump win last time.
This time, there will be plans for who will get the 4,000 jobs the new administration has to appoint, advanced thoughts on legislative programmes, a deeper understandings of how to get their way, etc.
These plans are not Trump's own or initiated by him. He is not interested in the details of policy and administration. So these will just fall into his lap and probably happen by default.

Oh, fun, an Arrestmas Race.
Who will win the race for Arrest 3, the State of Georgia or the Federal government?

Or a theft charge started by a report from Israel?
Re: Indecision 2024
That's like when you lend a friend a fiver. You know you'll never get it back. Not to victim blame, but if you let Trump get his hands on your stuff you're a fool.

THE SPECIAL COUNSEL’S letter to Donald Trump related to Jan. 6 listed the federal statutes under which Trump is expected to be charged, including conspiracy, obstruction, and civil rights violations
The letter does not mention statues on sedition or insurrection, according to the source. Trump is the only person named in the letter

I’ve decided I should be on the pardon list if that’s still in the works
Re: Indecision 2024
Nothing much in the indictment we didn't already know - we watched it happen live, seen the Congress investigation and read the journalism.
But some extra detail. The "riots in every major city” to be followed with invoking the insurrection act stands out. That is how a proper coup should have happened.

But we didn’t ALL watch it live. Some people saw happy videos of tourists being shown around by cheerful police officers who have been unfairly maligned.lpm wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 6:09 amNothing much in the indictment we didn't already know - we watched it happen live, seen the Congress investigation and read the journalism.

An interesting article on why Trump will struggle to defend the third indictment.
- believing the election was fraudulent does not permit his criminal actions, and
- he cannot present a defence that he relied on expert lawyers unless he takes the stand, which would be hilarious but won't ever happen.

"Many people are saying that one of the lawyers must have been the mastermind behind this scheme. Who was it? Did Rudy or John Eastman tell you what to do?"
And then let narcissism do the rest of the work.
