Yep.

Balloon animals.

They have the capabilities to send over giant balloon animals to fool the capitalist swine.

"No Mr President, it's not a spy balloon, our pilot has identified it as a giant sausage dog."

Do we need to start a new thread - "How to bring down an 'octagonal object' that may or may not be a balloon".

Apparently the commander of NORAD has said...
I'm not going to categorize them as balloons. We're calling them objects for a reason

Excerpt from a draft script for Veep.

General: We've detected another balloon heading toward Alaska.
Advisor to the President: We can't call them balloons. Sounds like something my kid has at her birthday party.
General: What about 'balloon like object'.
Advisor: Nope, still too innocuous. But I like the word 'object'. Sounds menacing, like a UFO or something.
General: OK, 'object' it is.

I like the way they pretend there's "mystery". Even though the site where China launches these balloons has been identified.

Are you sure it's not all a cunning promotion for the U2 tour that was advertised during the Superbowl - Live at the Sphere? That had a fair number of balloon like objects in it.

I’m just amazed U2’s are still flying. Are they still making them?

I very much doubt they've made one since the '60s. All their fleet of B52s were built over ten years starting in 1952.

<edit to add> Oh. I'm wrong. They built the last one in 1989!

We didn't know about Google maps, thanks for forwarding the link. Yep that would have allowed us to get lost much easier than sending the balloon.

Fixed that for you
