Cars in general are getting heavier.
The early VW Passat used the same rear wheel bearing as a polo. Needless to say they outlasted the warranty but not by long, they were well known to fail.
BL put the same gearbox innards in the 1300 Toledo (rwd) and Herald, they expected it to run just as well in the Marina/Ital with a 2.0 OHC engine and the MK1 TR7. It failed.
If car companies reuse the same components on heavier, more powerful cars, they must expect failures.

Not something that applies to Tesla though, unless they are reusing parts from the Roadster.Boustrophedon wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2023 3:06 pmCars in general are getting heavier.
