It's a bit of a confusing and complex issue - this is about the Sacklers dodging further legal liability without declaring bankruptcy. In this case the conservative wing of SCOTUS have ruled that they can't discharge personal liability by declaring their company bankrupt, which seems like a just decision. But the monetary terms of the settlement were probably much more generous because it included that.

ETA: Oh, and of course it's likely that this ruling was bought and paid for.
