Well, if you can get 5 years for conspiring to stop the traffic on the M25 (or something like that) then all of these f.ckers should be get 25 years at least.

There’s quite a list here with quite a range of outcomes- They seem to be quite keen on refusing bail. https://metro.co.uk/2024/08/05/everyone ... -21366566/

Given the threats of more violence tomorrow, that seems sensible.Stranger Mouse wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 8:43 amThere’s quite a list here with quite a range of outcomes- They seem to be quite keen on refusing bail. https://metro.co.uk/2024/08/05/everyone ... -21366566/

Yup. I think when they started doing the same with Jan 6 protesters it certainly seemed to have a chilling effect on further mass disruption events in the following monthsdyqik wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 10:01 amGiven the threats of more violence tomorrow, that seems sensible.Stranger Mouse wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 8:43 amThere’s quite a list here with quite a range of outcomes- They seem to be quite keen on refusing bail. https://metro.co.uk/2024/08/05/everyone ... -21366566/

I think these are the first sentences to come in. Three years, 20 months and 30 months.

What a confused poll. I've tried to understand the questions but I've no idea what they mean.Stranger Mouse wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 12:03 pmThis is interesting. YouGov on public reaction to the riots https://yougov.co.uk/politics/articles/ ... 2024-riots
I support the recent peaceful protests in the sense that peaceful protests are part of democracy. But what "recent protests" are they referring to? The protests against the rioters hijacking a tragedy? The protests against far right rioters attacking mosques?

It will be interesting to see if the swift flurry of prison sentences being handed out changes those large numbers who thought most perpetrators would probably get away with it.Stranger Mouse wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 12:03 pmThis is interesting. We are currently awaiting for Matthew Wilson to return to court for a contempt hearing after he punched the glass separating the dock from the main court, and shouted ‘fat c.nt’, raising his middle finger in the air when he was refused bail.

Feeling incredibly proud to be (tangentially) a Bristolian right now. Over 2,000 counter-protestors gathered, no signs of the fascists and the police are standing down. One headline on the Bristol Post's live reporting was this:
it's okay to say "I don't know"

Geordie anti-racist. Surely placard of the day?
It first was a rumour dismissed as a lie, but then came the evidence none could deny:

Somewhat soured as elsewhere it turns out some pro-palestinians turned up at Airbus to protest at perceived arms involvement with Israel - some employees were attacked and a police officer was hospitalised after he took a sledgehammer blow to his back. This is precisely what the agent provocatuers who stirred up the far right want, more violence to justify their own and escalation.

Videos had emerged online reportedly showing Mr Jones telling a crowd in Walthamstow that far right demonstrators needed to have their throats cut.

Apropos of nothingThe woman accused of being first to spread the fake rumours about the Southport killer which sparked nationwide riots has been arrested.
Racist riots spread across the country after misinformation spread on social media claiming the fatal stabbing was carried out by Ali Al-Shakati, believed to be a fictitious name, a Muslim aslyum seeker who was on an MI6 watchlist.
The businesswoman, who lives in a £1.5million farmhouse in Cheshire, told MailOnline she ‘first received this information from somebody in Southport’.

Take it with a pinch of salt... (and particularly in light of the subject of repeating things without checking)... but reports are that she's been quite prolific in anti-vaxx dissemination and, in its pre-bin fire days, had been kicked off Twitter.
Now that may turn out to be bobbins...

Ms Spofforth had previously shared posts raising questions about lockdown and net-zero climate change measures. However, her profile was temporarily removed by Twitter back in 2021 following allegations she was promoting misinformation about the Covid-19 vaccine and the pandemic. She disputed the claims and said she believed Covid is real.
Since Mr Musk’s takeover, her posts have received more than a million views fairly regularly.

It will be interesting to see whether an investigation exposes whether she was told the false immigrant murder story by someone (she’s told several contradictory stories) or whether there is a more sinister explanationjimbob wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 6:07 pmIf it is her, I'll be happy, given how disingenuous she has been since CovidFlammableFlower wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 6:00 pmTake it with a pinch of salt...
