America has banned Tik Tok because it's Chinese owned but it's expected Trump will reverse the ban.
What exactly is America worried about and, if the threat is real, why would Trump reverse the ban? It doesn't make sense. Also, why would China sell it to America?

Tiktok in the US
Re: Tiktok in the US
The British government has banned it from government devices. Various Huawei stuff was banned, or prevented from using certain technologies which made it unsaleable.
There appears to be a concern about the Chinese government using its ownership certain firms to direct them to do certain things, such as use them for espionage or other mischief.
Maybe Trump's promise to restore Tiktok is like the excellent free trade deal he said he would make with Britain after Brexit. Excellent meaning excellent for MAGA. So maybe he'll turn Tiktok back on if China gives something excellent in return. But China might be more willing to give Trump an excellent something than Britain would be to agree to an excellent trade agreement. Some kind of mutual backscratching might be easier to agree between China and Trump, since neither has much concern for the wider public of their country.

So a trade deal would take precedence over national security?
He may just start his own version - Trump Tok.

It first was a rumour dismissed as a lie, but then came the evidence none could deny:

He has given it a temporary 90 day reprieve. So I suppose that's the period in which either Donald gets on most excellently with his new bro Jin Ping, or Jin Ping disappoints like the new bro of 2017, Vladimir.Rich Scopie wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 10:46 amIt's back on, with a pop-up thanking Trump personally.Tessa K wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2025 5:08 pmAmerica has banned Tik Tok because it's Chinese owned but it's expected Trump will reverse the ban.
