I'm not clear on immigration procedure but it doesn't on the face of it look like something that can be directly appealed, so could be affected by page 48 of the tory manifesto (well it seems to fit quite squarely into the rights they say they would protect but we've seen how crap they are at this in practice anyway).

f.cking hell. As the replies to the tweet have said, even Kafka would think this is going a bit far. We seriously need to scrap the Home Office and start again, they're totally unfit for purpose.

I have to admit I'm not entirely sure what is meant by bail 'in principle' or whether the Home Office were required to find accommodation or whether the person would only be released if accommodation was available (flight risk without it perhaps? total speculation). Unfortunately I can't be bothered to spend ages trying to dig up the rules right now. Maybe tomorrow night...you know, just to keep myself occupied.
