Generally that's what 3d printers need. Plus a bit of fiddling to get them to work, and then 48 hours to make a small weak plastic doodad that needs a huge amount of sanding and finishing to turn it into anything useful.

Oh, and PLA or ABS fibre.

That PLA and ABS stuff is presumably imported though.

Oh wait! We can just 3D print that! And we can just 3D print the printers too – simply program one to print itself out if we don't have one to hand.

I can't wait to see Andrew Neil trying to get a 3D printer with a extrude nozzle made from PLA to work.

The EU's position will be formally published today, so that will help.

EU wants tariff-free and quota-free trade deal and willing to offer that on condition UK accepts level paying field terms on standards.

What I wasn't aware of is that the political declaration said there should be a deal on fisheries by July 1st - and that getting that resolved is seen as a pre-condition for any subsequent deals. So this could blow up quicker than expected. Clever ploy though - this will test whether MP DIck is really willing to walk away (that key negotiating strategy) and if so then the rest of the talks are likely done.

So WTO it'll be...

UK considering walking away from talks in June.

Seems likely given fishery policy needs to be done by about then to get to further talks and Boris doesn't want to be seen to climb down.

What's interesting to me is that we don't even appear to be close to getting a 'Canada' deal - that once seemed a likely outcome short of no deal. What I've seen recently in UK media suggests that the EU is walking back from a prior offer in punishment. But 'Canada+' has different definitions of the '+'. For the UK it was greater freedom and continued service provision, for the EU it was keeping alignment. It's not a new difference - was discussed two years ago. Seems to be coming to a head real quickly now though.

Business might yet be satisfied if our competitiveness does increase outside the block. Whether those that supported Brexit will be satisfied is another matter because an increase in competitiveness for business will likely mean a reduction in pay and conditions for everyone else.

Good strategy from Tories though - if they see it through and cut regulations to keep business and it works with the left still divided, then PM Dick might get another term. If Labour win and start adding back lost protections and we lose businesses -as a result then it'll be "Labour wrecked the post-Brexit economy".

I for one am shocked at how the negotiations are going, shocked I say.

It's an oven ready dog turd pie - but oddly the EU don't want it put in their oven... so we're having cold dog turd pie and everyone gets a slice.

That's on Discworld where they have a more sensible outlook on such things.

I read somewhere that we've got fishing policy commitments to make by June, which we'll renege on, so that's why June's the "deadline" for our giving up and walking away.

So depressing.

It's going to be no deal. At least they'll spend the remaining 6 months gearing up for it.

If so, Irish terrorism and the coronavirus make the civil contingencies act look more and more likely.
