Trump and Clinton both had low vote numbers (Trump received fewer votes that Romney iirc). Neither of them were very much liked, so although the voter turnout was about the same proportion as 2012 (61%ish), significantly more votes went to other candidates than previously.
The half-truths, repeated, authenticated themselves.

David Holmes. It sounds as though Willam Taylor downplayed things a little when he said his staffer had 'overheard' the conversation. It sounds more like the conversation was actively shared at the table.

And Sondland's testimony is being torn to shreds. I wonder if he'll make another 'clarification'?

Donald Trump spent more than two hours at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Saturday for what the White House said were medical tests as part of his annual physical.

The appointment wasn’t on Trump’s weekend public schedule.
having that swing is a necessary but not sufficient condition for it meaning a thing

They had to double-check and then triple-check all his test results as they've never seen such great results for a man of his age. Really the best. Absolutely zero alarming symptoms of rapid decline.

Trump says he will 'strongly consider' testifying.

I mean, he won't, but just imagine how damning that could be...

You know he won't, we all know he won't. It's just his usual bluster and bravado.

...although we all wish he would - if his previous appearances in cases are anything to go on, he'd get himself convicted before he managed to get to the end of his long convoluted answer to the first question...

He said he'd consider releasing his tax returns. He's now suing in multiple cases to prevent them being released even to grand juries.

You know, somewhere there's a mirror universe where he does all these things *and* realises he has a sense of shame.

Nunes opening statement telling Sondland that he's there to be smeared, just after he dropped the President in it is going to age well...

Snag is Sondland still isn't coming up with a definitive "Yeah, The Donald told me: here's the letter/tweet/recording of the phone call". It's still "everyone knew what he wanted".

How long before Trump hangs Guiliani out to dry?
It's so much more attractive inside the moral kiosk

"I do not want my quid pro quo,
I do not want it, oh no, no.
I cannot now sink any lower
Thanks to that pesky whistleblower"

Seriously, the Repubs are taking this a conclusive evidence of innocence even though a) it's not a transcript. Obviously. and b) this was said (if it was said) after the whisleblowers report came out.

So there's still no sign at all of a shift in the GOP mood towards offloading him. Without that, none of this is any more than a sideshow, and his voter base doesn't give a f.ck.
Just tell 'em I'm broke and don't come round here no more.

There are loads of signs of a shift by Republicans.

I think several here are under-estimating how bad the hearings are for Trump, and how ill he is.

Republicans know he won't be on the 2020 ballot but need to position themselves OK with the MAGA-morons. At some point there'll be a sudden switch over.

And well after the Repubs knew that there was a whistleblower, as the whistleblower's report was improperly sent to the DoJ and White House before it was sent to Congress.

Hill is testifying now, telling the Republicans on the Committee that they are personally spreading false stories designed by Russia to weaken the United States.
