Mind body spirit

Post by Grumble » Tue Jan 14, 2020 9:55 pm

Spotted in my local Spar. I’m particularly intrigued by Sky Heartsong. I’m almost tempted to go along in the spirit of activism.

The apparent endorsement by the Woodland Trust is a bit surprising.

I think I'd have to ask which one in the picture is Sky Heartsong. Because a workshop from an International Animal Communicator who has won the 3:30 at Epsom, would be awesome.

Another unusual name there is the surname "Author".

Holistic dentistry sounds intriguing.

Orgonite Pyramids? Is that anything to do with Orgone?

Hmm, if you combine these, does that mean that sleeping with your head in a pyramid will sharpen your teeth?

I see a gap in the market - all it needs is someone with no scruples.

I can pluck the scruples from your aura remotely for a reasonable fee. And in offering this service I simultaneously prove that it works because I did my own!

OK, I'd love to pay you, but unfortunately my computer had a virus that a nice person from Microsoft support phoned me about and for some reason my bank account seems emptier than I expected.

If only the James Randi $1million challenge was still running. A horse leading an animal communication workshop would be fantastic. And if they ever did a live action Bojack Horseman, Sky Heartsong would be a shoo in.

I know someone into holistic dentistry. Only I didn't know they were into it when I suggested they go to my dentists after they struggled to find one in this city that they got on with. I thought they were just wanting someone who followed evidence based recommendations around breastfeeding, but when they were disappointed it turned out they were looking for something quite different.

Not knowing much about the Woodland Trust I went along to their website to see. They do seem to be a reasonably evidence based organisation not prone to woo around trees. Might be worth attending just to see if they are an exhibitor.

The logo on the flyer doesn't make their role clear. If I were one of their supporters, I suppose I'd be ok with them just exhibiting, if the purpose is to bring in more donations. I would be distinctly not ok with them endorsing or sponsoring, though. I guess that may be a somewhat fine line.

Walking around woodland (as with other green space) is a fairly well established method of helping mind and body I think. Certainly more evidence based than most of the stuff at these events.

I suspect you're thinking about it backwards, people with more money than sense and warm, mushy feelings about anything 'Nature'. Seems like a pretty good place for a woodland charity to pitch for donations.

I’m sure you’re right. I just meant that some actual net good would result from them being there, without thinking about motives.
