Janelle Shane's book on Artificial Intelligence

Post by basementer » Mon Nov 11, 2019 8:03 pm

As we're using her paint colours, it seems appropriate to mention that Janelle Shane's book on AI was published just last week:
You Look Like a Thing and I Love You

Yes that looks interesting, I've ordered one. Now have to decide whether to keep it or give it to a chile (and which one?).

Trying, and failing, to find the ebook outside of Amazon. I might have to get the dead tree edition.

It's available on Kobo if that's any help.

It's not yet been released where I am, but I've popped in to a local bookshop which is/who are going to import a copy for me.

She writes nice clear prose. A little more technical detail might have been nice, but the references are thorough so it's going to be easy to dig deeper into the subject. Recommend.

Thanks - I've added it to my list. I quite like non-technical overviews of fields I know nothing about, as long as they provide references. And I'm way behind the curve on understanding AI.

The latest episode of the Lingthusiasm podcast (Ep 40) has an interview with her that is worth a listen.
