Post by bmforre » Thu Mar 12, 2020 12:41 pm

Le Monde reports:
The Boiron lab is a specialist in homeopathic supplies. They've recently had to fire 646 employees in France.

13 out of 31 of their sites must close in France.

This company is a global leader in the homeopathy sector. They have strongly protested against reduction in public payment for their concoctions.

Losing more staff must make them more effective. That'll sugar the pill somewhat!
My avatar was a scientific result that was later found to be 'mistaken' - I rarely claim to be 100% correct
ETA 5/8/20: I've been advised that the result was correct, it was the initial interpretation that needed to be withdrawn
Meta? I'd say so!

And losing more public money must make them richer?

Surely to make the work effective you need to dilute it among as many staff as possible. A good business to work in.

Here is advice from 4Homeopathy:
Can homeopathy help?
Homeopathic medicines have been used extensively for flu-like symptoms and in epidemics around the world. If you decide to take a homeopathic medicine, this should be in addition to the various measures outlined above and should not be your only approach. Selection of the most appropriate homeopathic medicine is based on an individual’s unique symptoms. However, Gelsemium 30c and Bryonia 30c are commonly used for flu-like symptoms and have a long-established, traditional usage over many years.

Homeopathic options can form one part of your approach to the current Covid-19 outbreak but should always be used alongside other measures. If you have current symptoms or are concerned that you may have been exposed to coronavirus, it is important to call 111 to seek appropriate advice, in keeping with current guidelines.

This is a joint statement on behalf of 4Homeopathy - the UK Homeopathic organisations listed below.

Society of Homeopaths
Alliance of Registered Homeopaths
British Homeopathic Association
British Association of Homoeopathic Manufacturers
British Association of Homeopathic Veterinary Surgeons
Faculty of Homeopathy
Friends of the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine
Homeopathy Action Trust
Homeopathic Course Providers Forum
Homeopathy Research Institute

It's not a joke when people believe it.
See f.ex:
‘Alternative’ medicine becomes popular for COVID-19 prevention
https://www.siasat.com/alternative-medi ... n-1848789/
Hyderabad: With the deadly COVID-19 spreading across the world, a few alternative medical practitioners including Homeopathy and Unani are trying to cash in by claiming to have medicines of prevention of and immunity from Coronavirus.

Several panic-stricken people in Old City are rushing towards Dawasazfor Unani medicine, while some of the homeopathy stores are seeing it as an opportunity to earn money from the scare by selling unwarranted preventive solutions.
Not joke. Tragedy.

According to the article, critics of homeopathy say it is 'poudre de perlimpinpin’. You don't really need to speak French to get the gist of that.

Perhaps the workforce and equipment could be converted to making something actual useful. Hand sanitiser, perhaps? Luis Vitton have switched to making it, so perhaps these people could actually do something that helps someone for a f.cking change.

Thank you EACL. I've been playing with related thoughts, hoping the workers have not been so imbued with super- or sub-natural ideas that they are utterly useless for actually needed work.
Perhaps they'd best be enrolled in a Transport Corps and set to bringing food and necessities home to people who can't or ought not to go out themselves?
Who in the UK has the authority and ability to roll out such services very fast and at the required scale?

I hope the clear utility and solidarity of this kind of service can strenghten motivation.* And of course a living salary.
