Hmm. The police spend a lot of their time picking up the pieces for mental health problems, thanks to the utter inadequacy of the UK's mental health service. They are pretty well trained for this, including dealing with violent ill people who've self-medicated with drugs and made it worse.

Some of their gentle questioning of this woman should probably be recast in the light of them exploring if she's ill, rather than wondering about domestic abuse.

She wasn't violent though and was sitting alone. She definitely became agitated after the prolonged questioning and threats from the police. And who could blame her.

However, I do agree that she does have mental health problems and the services will be severely inadequate during this lock down.

Ah I suppose that could work for a given value of the word "threats" although it stretches it beyond realistic level of use. Of course, as part of the Deep State I would say that.

Some power companies have been sending out pre-paid meter cards for electricity/gas so people on meters don't get cut off. Thames Water is offering to temporarily reduce or pause payments, I assume other water companies will do similar.

I haven't had mine yet for electricity. EDF.

I don't know what EDF are like. Are they're sending prepaid cards out? The story I saw helpfully didn't mention which companies were doing that.

Today, the Guardia Civil paid a visit to our urbanizacion. Because the gardeners are back to work making it all look lovely again. Checking they're observing the decree ... oh, and had a sneaky peek to make sure no one was using the beach, or walking dogs off lead. Big guns.
They're really policing the relaxation. Not sure how they got in, it is a gated community.

Caretaker is a 'non-essential' worker (also a massive hypochondriac! Dear Fernando), hence no mail. We have a communal mailroom. No Fernando, no mail.
Oh well.

From your transcript (thanks!) I thought she sounded a bit freeman-on-the-landish ("Is that a demand or a request?") etc. Those guys are always going out trying to wind up cops and film the results for youtube.

Maybe yeah, I missed that bit, but anyway she was clearly prepped on being non-cooperative, and there are bunch of groups, including FOTL, who advocate that sort of thing and post videos of the confrontations. For the most part it was fair enough, she had a plausible disagreement on interpretation of the law and what she was doing then wasn’t obviously risky. However she wanted to get arrested to make some point or whatever. Normally I’d say fair enough, but in the current climate that increases the risk for many people, which in turn increases the risk for many others who they then have necessary contact with. Her “so what if I put myself at risk” attitude also didn’t help.
