Meanwhile I just registered with Slovakia to confirm that I won't need to quarantine thanks to my two vaccinations as reported on my Green Pass when I drive there at the weekend.

Although our NHS vaccination certificates were accepted for upload by the French TousAntiCovid app, they weren't accepted by the French Verif app when we tried to get into a Museum.
However, because it was quiet they were happy for us to enter when we showed them the NHS certificates on our NHS app.

However, on reflection, the intent is clear: Children only get out of quarantine if their parent's
could have got out of quarantine by being vaccinated. Since that isn't the case for parents coming from France, the children have to quarantine too. Hopefully "amber plus" will be dropped soon.

This evening, we're at an outdoor music event, where the 'pass sanitaire' was 'obligatoire', but this time our imported NHS QR codes were accepted.

If you test positive for Covid here in Mallorca, they put you in a quarantine hotel. This is in a hotel building, but basically run like a hospital (e.g., deliveries of McDonald's are considered contraband).
This guest is unimpressed.

I've just driven to Slovakia. At a lunch stop in Austria I was asked for my Green Pass when I sat outside at the bar, the waiter just looked at the printed pdf and it was fine. Crossing the border at Bratislava the border guard was happy with my printout of the acknowledgment of my registration to enter Slovakia, didn't need anything else. There seemed to be more of a queue on the other side for exiting Slovakia and entering Austria though so we'll see how that goes in two weeks' time.
Nobody in Germany or Austria seems to be wearing masks outside anymore.

"The guests/patients are allowed to order meals outside, (as well as other basic supplies) but not processed food, as per the doctor's prescription.
I am in favour of strict restrictions, but I can't see how food from macca's is any kind of health threat.
The most humane way to handle this might be to restrict travel completely until this pandemic emergency is over.

I went on a camping trip to Sweden earlier this week.
No checks at all going into Sweden.
Driving into Norway there were checks on everyone’s vaccine certificates and ID papers, and everyone got a rapid test (result took half an hour).

But when they do wear masks, in the supermarket for example, they tend to be FFP2. I think this kind of mask isn't mandatory but was at one point, and people are either still in the habit or just bought loads at the time so are still using them.

Things are getting complicated for people with non-standard lives.
The UK's quarantine exemption for vaccinated people does not apply if:
- You have had two doses of different vaccines (even 1 Pfizer and 1 Moderna)
- Your country only gives one dose (except Janssen) to people who have had Covid
We have people locally in both of those situations. Explanatory notes were added to the UK government's "how to quarantine" website at several points in the past week.
My guess is that in practice nobody's going to get denied the "amber-to-green" upgrade if they try, as all the checking is done at the departure airport and most Spanish (at least) gate staff probably CBA about that level of complexity from the UK, when they already have 30 other countries' idiosyncrasies to deal with. But I helped someone yesterday whose 75yo Mum has to travel and doesn't want to quarantine, and is in the "one dose plus Covid" situation. She isn't going to take the risk of being denied boarding. This all feels so unnecessary.

It's becoming clear from the requests that I help with on Facebook that some people are determined not to get vaccinated even with the obstacles that are being put in their way for travelling. "Hi, what do I need to go to the UK, not vaccinated. And can I get round quarantine somehow?" -- yes, you can get vaccinated. I try to help them with non-judgmental info, but sometimes other people say "Why don"t you just get vaccinated" and then the anti-vax nonsense comes out. Occasionally it's genuine hesitancy, but their main timeline usually gives it away.
