As of this evening's update of the numbers at https://www.governo.it/it/cscovid19/report-vaccini/ Italy has fully vaccinated more than 1 million people.

By my estimate, about 1.4 million have had only one dose so far.

Only 2.9 million doses have so far been delivered to Italy, so a rate of ~100,000 doses per day keeps pace with supply.

One vaccination every 3 minutes 30 seconds

This plan is relevant to 6.6 million people in Lombardy eligible for the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Lombardy has already given about 240,000 Pfizer* doses to health workers and 130,000 doses to some sort of non-health-worker category. 36,518 doses have gone to care homes but only 2822 doses have so far gone to >80's. They (and those with severe co-morbidities) will have to wait for more Pfizer doses to arrive. But I think the 300,000 in the "priority" category are being dealt with at a rate of about 24,000 doses a day.

* - a few Moderna doses have been supplied to Italy, but not enough to really make a dent in these numbers.

41,800 AstraZeneca doses are apparently on their way in Lombardy; the local health service is still waiting for details on who to give them to.

Should also get another 85,000 doses of Pfizer and of 22,000 Moderna this week.

Giving it to >80's is "phase 2" which should start here in two weeks, but care homes will apparently be finished by Wednesday but there's a "phase 1-part 2" which will then start which I think is all the lower-priority health-sector workers who have so far been complaining about not getting vaccinated.

The dashboard at https://www.governo.it/it/cscovid19/report-vaccini/ only lists the Pfizer and Moderna doses delivered to Italy so far.

(Italy has given a second dose to nearly 2% of its population so far)

2400 AstraZeneca doses appear to have been posted to the big out-of-town hospital here

In the meantime, they're working on the associated IT registration system and list of people to give it to.

(The local health service has so far received 29300 Pfizer doses, and administered 23885 of them.)

Lombardy is considering buying vaccines directly... not sure where it expects to get them from any faster though.

Well, more seriously, we'd all be receptive to the Sputnik V once it gains EMA and then AIFA approval.

Well it's one thing when ex-Eastern bloc countries which only recently joined the EU does it.

Not like it seems to be going any faster than Italy or the EU generally

This facebook post reports on the adverse vaccine reactions which have been picked up so far in Italy. I don't know why they use "Comirnaty" as the name of the Pfizer/BioNTech one.

Comirnaty is the brand name of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.
They obviously put more thought into developing the vaccine than marketing. Which is a good thing.

Planned dates for the beginning of the programme to vaccinate >80's in the population, according to the TV news I just saw:

Valle d'Aosta, Lazio: 8th February.
Liguria: 12th February.
Veneto: 15th February.
Piemonte: 21st February.
Lombardia: 24th February.

Toscana, Emilia-Romagna, Umbria, Puglia, Campagna: "mid February".
Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, Lombardia, Sicilia: "end of February".

(yes they listed Lombardy twice)

Any not listed will probably be March.

* - http://www.tg3.rai.it/ and look for the evening edition of the 2nd of February, about 20 minutes in.

Italy has given > 2 million doses, of which >700,000 are second doses. Almost all of them are Pfizer ones, Italy has only received 112,800 Moderna doses.

https://www.governo.it/it/cscovid19/report-vaccini/
Seems that in the Como area booking for >80's opens on Monday, for vaccination starting on the "Wednesday the 18th" (the 18th is a Thursday).

For scale, each of the steps in the green line, corresponding to the weekly deliveries of (almost entirely) Pfizer vaccine doses, is roughly the same number as the UK does in a day (or, alternatively, the total number of second doses given in the UK).

The latest step up includes the nearly 250,000 AstraZeneca doses which have finally arrived which we still don't know what to do with.

The online portal for over-80's to book their vaccine appointments here in Lombardy opened at 3pm today and obviously couldn't keep up with demand but honestly an online portal for over-80's?

The AstraZeneca rollout has gone quiet.

At Raccomandazioni ad interim sui gruppi target della vaccinazione anti-SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 there's a pdf (in Italian) updated about a week ago: http://www.salute.gov.it/imgs/C_17_pubb ... legato.pdf

However, it does indicate on page 10, that also university people are in category 6 which means priority in the 18-55 age range for the AstraZeneca vaccine along with military and emergency services, prisons, community services (civil and religious), essential services.

Pages 12-15 have some numbers on: how many millions* of doses are supposed to arrive (4,165,000 AstraZeneca before the end of March, for example; then another 22 million April-June... remember that a quarter of a million have finally arrived just a few days ago; so in the next six weeks they need to arrive at a rate of about 650,000 per week, which is similar to what the UK gets through some days) and how many are in each category. It does however only say that there are about 29 million between 16 and 54 and not how many would be in this AZ priority category between 18 and 55. The "graph" on page 15 suggests that it's about 20% of the population which would be about 12 million, but it's not very obvious.

(* - given that Italy uses , and . in the opposite way to English as thousands and decimal separators, this is just a bit more confusing that it needs to be)

AIFA is recommending that the AstraZeneca vaccine be given up to the age of 65, instead of just 55;

The news also gave a provisional schedule for delivery:

Already arrived: 249,600
Q1 2021: 5,352,250
Q2 2021: 10,042,500
Q3 2021: 24,771,250

Not sure how that squares with the table in the pdf I just linked to... it too claims the ministry of health as its source.

this link suggests that the first AstraZeneca doses are anyway going to various kinds of medical and health personnel who weren't covered by the Phase I Pfizer rollout.

Another quarter of a million AstraZeneca doses seem to have arrived in Italy, along with a few more Moderna ones.

Mario Draghi says he wants to speed up Italy's covid vaccinations because of course he does - but the issue is how to actually get the doses to give to people.

As of the evening update, 1.3 million Italians have had two doses of vaccine and almost all of them will have been Pfizer ones.

(I don't consider the day's numbers to be final until I've seen the following day's early morning update but we're still at a rate of only 60,000 doses per day.)

Apparently Italy has only received about a third of the doses it had been expecting to receive by now; should have been 12 million, actually it's 4 million. Still, only 80% of those doses have been given, but of course you can't give the last doses because then there'd be none left.

So is this part of the problem from the EU exporting doses, or is it something else?

Nations that received COVID-19 vaccines produced in the EU since Jan. 30 are: Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Oman, Panama, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States.
I don't know how many doses have been exported. This might explain why Hungary has been getting vaccines from Russia and China.
