I had my first jab (Pfizer) a couple of weeks ago.
My brother has had the invitation to make an appointment but is kinda stuck in Madrid, he needs to come home to get it but the quarantine/self isolation involved in travelling would bugger up his work. Oh the joys of being freelance.

Mr Bagpuss had his yesterday. Currently feeling rather groggy but not too dreadful.

I had mine at lunchtime today and apart from a slightly sore arm, currently feel fine, but I suspect it just hasn't kicked in yet.

Both AZ, both at same centre, hugely impressed by organisation, apart from the time I was sitting down confirming I'm not allergic to anything, etc, and actually having my jab, I barely stopped moving. Total time from car door to car door, 7 minutes, and at least a couple of minutes of that was walking through the car park
Just over 24 hours later and I'm just feeling a bit tired and drowsy with a faintly sore arm. I also feel a little hot but the thermometer tells me I'm barely half a degree above my normal. Not as bad as I feared and definitely a small price to pay. 😁

Mr Bagpuss had it a bit worse but he's feeling better than me today and I'm sure we'll both be fine tomorrow.

Had my AZ on Saturday morning in the tent out back of the GPs. Ultra efficient one way system, no queue, in & out in a jiffy. Ecstatic. Wore my sticker round the supermarket to do a bit of advertising.

Course, started feeling iffy that evening. Massively thirsty, then chills & shakes as I was going to bed. Bit of a rough night, temp of 100F the next morning. Sunday: chillaxing on the sofa, increasingly painful migrainey headache & sore muscles until I gave in and took some paracetomol. Slept much better, but still thirsty/sweaty. Monday morning: fever gone, developed mild sniffles, very slight dry cough. (Oh, and the lovely uticarial type rash thingy I get on my neck & chest whenever I have a fever....) But felt much better by the evening. Just about back to normal today except for slightly sore arm.

MrRaven had his first AZ the week before. All he got was sore arm and being a bit cold the next day, the git.

( Of course, now I read the leaflet and see that if you've had bleeding/bruising issues AZ is contraindicated. Oh. The nice Dr in the tent only asked about blood thinners. Well, the blood tests I had after all those nosebleeds /weird bruises I was getting in 2019 came back normal so it should be ok. Too late to worry about it now anyway and probably for the best.)

I haven't had the vaccine (we still haven't finished the over-80s after vaccinating all the vulnerable and HCWs), but as of today I am at least in the computer to get one. I don't have a card for the Spanish equivalent of the NHS, and they have (quite reasonably) been given the monopoly of the vaccinations. So those of us with only private medical insurance were in danger of not being called up simply because there was no easy way to get registered. Today I found how to do it. It turns out to be easy, but none of the people on the "Covid Vaccine Helpline" were able to tell me, which seems like a bit of a "You Had One Job" moment.

OK, so who else has had an Indian-made AZ?

No EU holidays for us.

It's AstraZeneca batch numbers 4120Z001, 4120Z002 and 4120Z003 on your little card. Anecdotally it's the batches delivered around the time 45-60 were getting their first doses.

I'm 4120Z002.

It's ok, Johnson is "very confident" there "will not prove to be a problem" and his confidence is never just misplaced ignorant bluster so I'm sure it'll be fine.

Might be me too.
Fortunately, I'll be there long enough that isolation won't take all the time we're there.

This is intended to encourage people to get vaccinated. Not sure who the intended demographic is, it's not exactly the kind of thing young uns would relate to.

Well it's better than the weird and creepy ads we had here in Italy back before any vaccines were even available.

That smacks of a theatre producer wondering how to justify spending the Β£100ks of Cultural Recovery Funding they’ve received.

I ran into an old flatmate earlier who hasn't been vaccinated and probably won't be. She believes in 'natural immunity' and something something auto-immune disease and something something fertility issues and it's all been too quick, she wants to wait five years to be sure it's safe. I did try and address her concerns and I certainly didn't have a go at her. She understands misinformation but thinks that her concerns aren't based on that, rather on her general ant-vax beliefs (she never had her kid vaccinated against anything). I'd forgotten she thought like this - it was around 30 years ago we were flatmates - but it was sobering to have that conversation. It started to rain so we cut it short but I didn't like the feeling that nothing I said would make any difference no matter how long we talked.

mine are a completely different format of batch numbers.

Mine are AZ / ABV5839-01 and AZ / ABW4054-42 from mid March and mid May respectively, but I'm sure they were made in the EU.

PV46669 and PV46689 for mine. I was glad I wasn't religious/superstitious with my first. With all the "mark of the beast" stuff I'm not sure having 666 in there was the best marketing strategy!

Yup. Have had a couple of very similar experiences. Pretty depressing.

Oh dear. I'm all right but that's MrRaven, who before all this regularly travelled to the EU for work & has not enjoyed being 'grounded'.

His second one is ok though...

The flatmate had the second Moderna on Monday and has been in bed for two days. I saw him for a couple of minutes yesterday and he did not look good. He rarely takes sick leave so he must be feeling pretty rough. I can tell he's still alive because I just heard him go in the shower. Perhaps the restorative power of the England game tonight has worked its magic on him.

Absolutely no idea what batch of AZ I got because I was never given a card. Good job I'm not intending to travel abroad any time soon anyway eh.

If you have the NHS app you should be able to find your vaccine record in there, and it will say what batch number you had.

What wilsontownsaid.

Not that I've got the app. I imagine you'd need a smartphone for something like that.

I asked for a letter from the NHS in case I needed to prove vaccine status for something (I got a card at the time, but I don't think they're accepted as proof) and the letter's got full details on, including batch numbers.
