Having my first dose tomorrow. People who've had it already, what should I expect? I've been told to turn up no earlier than 5 minutes before my appointment, but in practice are there delays? My jab's late in the day, at 17:40, so I'm guessing there might be knock-on delays from whatever problems they might encounter during the day.

Just turn up when you're supposed to and follow the instructions. If you have to queue indoors ask them how they are doing for timing, there will be someone standing at the entrance. Mine was at 10am and I was out by 10:07.

Thanks Disco (and for moving my post). Someone elsewhere said "bring a book" (apparently took them an hour from joining the queue till leaving the building).

I guess it's going to vary a lot from place to place so not much you can do other than turn up and hope for the best!

Has anyone had a delayed reaction to the vaccine? This week I've been exhausted despite sleeping 9-10 hours a night, and nauseous. I woke up on Friday morning feeling fine again. It was just over 3 weeks after vaccination that I started feeling like this. I've tried Google but can't find anything.

My dad has had similar symptoms about 8 weeks after the Pfizer vaccine, including vertigo every morning. It’s all gone away now.

He got checked out by the doctor who didn’t seem concerned.

It's possibly a thyroid blip but it lasted longer than they normally do. If it happens again I'll get a blood test. I just wondered if it was a common response at the three week vaccine becoming active point.

Interesting. My mum had vertigo recently but I didn't think it could be jab related as it was a few weeks later. But maybe it was related?

Am waiting inside for my 17:40 jab. There's a delay. I had been afraid I'd be waiting outside, in the rain, for 20+ minutes because obviously they wouldn't let people wait indoors.

I've just been invited for one! I'm under 40 (by the skin of my teeth) but they were crystal clear it was for an underlying medical condition. It's true that I have epilepsy but I didn't think that was on the list of things they were worried about so was totally expecting to wait a couple of months. I'm guessing my GP surgery has worked their way through all the people with medical conditions to be genuinely concerned about and now they're inviting anyone they can get away with. Not that I'm complaining. In fact I'm dancing round the house. I also found out a few days ago that a research grant application I'm involved in was funded. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket...

Got the AZ jab yesterday no ill effects. Yet.

Got it a few minutes later (AZ), and overall I spent 35-40 minutes in an enclosed space which I was not comfortable with. One thing that did surprise me was I wasn't asked to wait 15 minutes under observation in case of side effects, but was just ushered out (very nicely though, everybody was very pleasant). As it happens I don't think I've experienced any side effects (have a very slight headache, my shoulders ache slightly, and my back hurts slightly, but all that might be due to a long, rushed walk back followed by scheduled phone and beery Zoom sessions afterwards which I'd not wanted to be late for hence my initial worry about timings).

Mrs G was invited to have a vaccination a couple of weeks ago.
I am having mine on Monday
Last week, because we're both participating in BioBank*, we were both invited to participate in their community antibody testing.
Mrs G showed positive for IgG
I tested negative on both IgM and IgG

So, pretty much boring. Soz!

AZ yesterday. Ok until midnight when i did a flu poo and shivered all night. Now feeling miserable.

About two hours after my first AZ yesterday I got a very slight headache which still hasn't gone away. Also, been feeling very slightly lethargic. Possibly these have other causes, such as the fact that I spent around two hours walking around getting to/from the vaccine place, or the fact that I had a Zoom drinking session when I got back. Arm was very slightly sore, but only when I slept on it.

Ah, I see from here that generally they don't require the 15 minutes if it's AZ.

Well, I had the AstraZeneca, and the importance of the 15 minutes' wait was impressed upon me several times.

I have my second dose booked for the 17th of May.

I shall let you know, as a control group, if I have any side-effects despite not being a functional alcoholic who can't go two days sober.

Maybe only boozers get sore arms.

Usually takes about 12 hours for the arm bruising to get painful?

Depends how much single malt you drink.

Had my second Pfizer on Saturday. So far, so good. Bit of a sore arm but was prepared to feel much worse.

The man who had the AZ vaccine, just as the rest of the world said 'Nah!'

Not that I'm concerned.

How much notice did you get for the appointment?

My dad is due his second dose by 5th April, but hasn't heard anything yet.

I'm shivering a bit but only 36.6°C so far.
