la Scala's reopening is postponed by a positive case in the cast

We're not really ready for "reopening but safely".

Schools in a small town somewhere in Lombardy (didn't catch where, if you're reading this I didn't find out within the edit window) will stay closed because of an anomalous spike in cases.
Actually they said seven councils in Valle Imagna, which is up in the hills north of Bergamo.

So contact sport outside has been allowed here for a while now. Yesterday, gyms were allowed to open following a decree last week.

Everyone was expecting also contact sports (in my case, partner dancing) to be allowed indoors too this week, and planning accordingly, but it wasn't actually in the decree which nobody read, so even the Italian dance federation and our various sports organizations have assumed it to be allowed even if the ministry of sport is pointing out that last week's decree didn't actually say that.

And people were acting surprised yesterday.

Guys, the decree was a week ago, read the f.cking law rather than just assuming it's going to be what you thought it would be.

The pandemic is over. The bus company has decided that social distancing is a thing of the past now buses are busier. So you can now sit shoulder to shoulder with tourists from all over the country as long as you don’t sit in the seat behind the driver

Not exactly how I was planning to test how well my vaccine is working. Not sure how safe it is for the drivers either tbh.

There was live music outside at the Spirit de Milan last night for Frankie Manning's birthday and it was lots of fun. Mauro Porro led the band, switching between piano, soprano sax and trumpet.

It was seated-at-tables only, of course, which meant that I must have been imagining seeing all those people dancing in the space between tables. Well, the owner didn't say anything.

(I didn't join in the [totally illegal] dancing, it's possible that the musicians enjoyed being able to play the actual authentic songs from the period which tend to be a bit faster then you're used to; and at one point there was a drum solo which was so hilariously syncopated that the band were laughing at how the dancers were just standing there confused about what to do.)

Well, if the Inter fans didn't cause a spike in cases then this won't either. They had a third party the other day for some reason.

Good to see a lot of people I haven't seen for over a year.

Unlockdowns? Ha. I have just managed to miss the latest complete 7 day lockdown, by virtue of only having been in Mildura and having escaped before the realised there was coronavirus in the community in Whittlesea. Cluster has risen to 30 cases with 10,000 contacts to trace.
Here grows much rhubarb.

Meanwhile in post-curfew Milan scrotes are setting pitbulls on the carabinieri so that they can rob people.
The carabinieri are armed aren’t they? Can’t they shoot the dogs?

They did indeed shoot the dog, but a couple of people may have been injured by ricochet/fragments. Or by glass from the bottles which some other scrotes were throwing at the carabinieri. One of those anyway.

Couldn't they just all go down the pub or something?

Meanwhile, the rest of the country is in the SW enjoying all the things that are open.

Is that the stuff Andrew Lloyd Webber has been trying to take the government to court to publish? I know he's not the sharpest tool in the box, but I'd have thought a least a bit of him would have twigged that if it had been anything near a success, the government would have been shouting it from the rooftops.

How is it possible to be so continually inept??

Or is it just corruption?

Meanwhile Italy is considering allowing outdoor discos, at 50% capacity with Green Passes, but hasn't set a date for it.

I think we might deserve to be f.cked.

Us4Covid have decided that in addition to not wanting masks in schools, not wanting testing for children, not wanting vaccines for children they don’t want isolation for contacts of school cases now.

I’m not sure they are for anything other than time travel into a covid-19 free world.

The main reason I’m here is because I feel this lockdown has come at the cost of our liberty and rights. Our freedom to assemble.
Says women who is part of a gathering. Some of these people need to go and try living in an actual dictatorship or police state for a bit. And I'm going to go out on a limb and say none of them were protesting the government's attempt to curtail the powers of the electoral commission.

So now with all of Italy in White, in the North we can take our masks off when we're outside and there's nobody around (as opposed to before when we had to keep our masks on outside as long as nobody was looking) but some people are still keeping them on except when nobody's around. Meanwhile in the region which has Napoli in it they have an ordinance which means they have to keep their masks on when outside in case there are other people around but people are taking them off when nobody is looking.

It will be quite safe as long as they are all double masked.

Double masking meand putting both masks on your face.

I'm a bit torn about the app - on the one hand, a more contagious virus surely needs a more sensitive approach rather than less.

On the other hand, lots of precautions are now in place which weren't there when the app started, eg a while ago we had a long discussion in a kitchen showroom, less than 2m from the salesperson, but they were behind a plastic screen and we were wearing masks, so surely a low risk situation?

And we presumably have good stats for transmission outside being lower, which I'm guessing the app can't identify
