The UK has announced zero daily Covid deaths within 28 days of a positive test for the first time since last March. The latest figures also reported another 3,165 new cases, compared with 3,383 on Monday and 2,493 one week ago.
As we know, 28 days is an arbitrary cut-off designed to minimise the fatalities but it's still encouraging as long we can persuade everyone to get vaccinated who can. Even then, the stupid goverment relaxing travel and quarantine rules may well mean more deaths but I'm determined to see some little light at the end of the long stinky tunnel full of spiders.
(and by today I mean yesterday)

Am I alone in having been put in mind of
this by the thread title?

"Scottishland" tends to only be reporting 1-2 deaths per day recently anyway.
Far more significant that it was the weekend in Great Englandstershirelandl'ndlundshire.
having that swing is a necessary but not sufficient condition for it meaning a thing

Today it's gone up infinity percent, with 12 deaths reported. Which is almost exactly double the recent 7-day average of deaths per day. What are the chances?

To be fair, if deaths stay at about 6 per day I don't really care what cases do. (Well I'd rather cases dropped to zero but it's clear no major European country has the patience for that.)
Italy is still having a lot more deaths per day than that.

Has the Delta variant hit Italy yet?
