Sorry to try and use the hivemind again but I have been advised to buy a chinese traditional medicine, Lianhuan qinwen, so I have it in stock in case. I am not honestly sure about the ethics of getting medicine you may or may not need if it’s it’s scarce, maybe it’s just like making sure we paracetamol or ibuprofen in though (which I will do).
But I more want to know about evidence of Efficacy. I may end up in a position of trying to decide between treating covid symptoms with Lianhuan qinwen, or trying to ride it out with only paracetamol / ibuprofen. Obviously ideally I would get medical advice from a doctor but that may not be possible so just looking for as much information on the evidence as possible to make my own decision if I have to (note: I am not asking for medical advice from posters here, but links to public information / evidence).
From Wikipedia it seems there is maybe some evidence of efficacy in treating influenza and of side effects being less than conventional options, and statements that it has been sold as a covid medicine in Australia, but nothing about evidence for this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lianhua_Qingwen
One study on it for influenza is here:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8830515/
That’s all I found on my own so far, but thought I’d ask now anyway as there could be a lot of things i might miss searching on my own .
Also if there are any proper medicines recommended/available for home use (by responsible verifiable experts, not from Dr oz or Trump

Just to be clear this is all hypothetical just now, I am worrying because others are worrying and a big change is happening. No specific reason for concern.
