I've come across my first bit of proper corona-woo, with diagrams and everything. (Yes, my online life must be pretty sheltered.) Guy I chat to on another forum (and actaully like, damnit) suggested it came out of lab near Wuhan. I said nah, it probably just jumped species from bats 'cos it's close to known coronaviruses. He comes back with, but it has bits from HIV in it so it could have been engineered.

I track down where this came from (a preprint that has since been retracted) and gave him these links:

Zerohedge is new to me and I have a list of chores as long as my arm to get done today so I don't have time to wade through that article and work out what's wrong with it right this second. Can anyone point me in the direction of a suitable debunk? (Apologies if there is one somewhere up thread - I don't have time to look)

Not only for spreading conspiracy theories, they published the name and personal info of a Chinese Doctor they suggested was responsible. You can get away with a lot on Twitter but one thing they come down on very hard is doxxing.

Frederick Forsyth has now jumped on this particular bandwagon (I won’t post a link but one of his sources is his postman).

Well it shows why bioweapons tend to not be used against people. One could use such weapons to attack crops or livestock that are economically important to a regional opponent but not your country, but targeting people would tend to backfire.

Unless it's for terrorism from a doomsday cult.

Maybe this epidemic will get countries to work out effective responses to such attacks, which are probably going to become cheaper and easier by the end of the century.

The Chinese are now saying that they think it might have come from outside China.

A video showing a US health official saying some flu victims were posthumously diagnosed as having had COVID-19 was among the top searched items on China's Twitter-like Weibo this week, with some users saying it was evidence the virus originated in the US.

There seems to be two threads here, China accuses the US Army of bringing a bioweapon to Wuhan and Chinese pointing to an admission by the US that previously unrecognized Corona virus was circulating in America and misdiagnosed as flu.

There is currently no strong evidence that ibuprofen can make coronavirus (COVID-19) worse.

But until we have more information, take paracetamol to treat the symptoms of coronavirus, unless your doctor has told you paracetamol is not suitable for you.

If you are already taking ibuprofen or another non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) on the advice of a doctor, do not stop taking it without checking first.

He's spot on. This guy on Facebook says its caused by the G5 masts, and is being used along side vaccines to keep the population at manageable levels

Just had a newsletter from telecoms.com titled "Consensus on 6G is gradually forming".
I'm thinking of suggesting to the standards people that 6G should leave out the COVID-19.
