Interesting Maps (or map like objects)
My avatar was a scientific result that was later found to be 'mistaken' - I rarely claim to be 100% correct
ETA 5/8/20: I've been advised that the result was correct, it was the initial interpretation that needed to be withdrawn
Meta? I'd say so!

Re: Interesting Maps (or map like objects)
Strange mixture of dimensions there. Two areas and all the rest are volumes.
Re: Interesting Maps (or map like objects)
That's probably because they are trying to express how big the volumes are.
By showing how big they are relative to each other and to some big things whose linear sizes we have some idea of, so it's the linear sizes of the USA and of the British Isles that's giving the scale - not the 'areas' as such.

Re: Interesting Maps (or map like objects)
Today I learned what a Jupiter Trojan is!
Something something hammer something something nail
Re: Interesting Maps (or map like objects)
As opposed to a Trojan Jupiter. If some Greeks send you a nice Jupiter statue that just won't quite fit through your front door, beware.
Re: Interesting Maps (or map like objects)
I like that they are split into Greek camp Trojans and Trojan camp Trojans, depending on whether they are leading Jupiter in its orbit or trailing it.
Except that there's one Greek in the Trojan camp and one Trojan in the Greek camp (Hektor, the one shown).

The National Library of Scotland has loads of historical maps - especially of Scotland and Great Britain. Including 50" mapping of Victorian London

Which you can view side by side with Lidar, for example
