Wow. Incredible what the human race can do! However, how do they know it'll last long enough to complete the therapy? From the article it only seems like it's a week before it starts to be absorbed but I'd have thought it would be needed for longer? Any medical types can help with this? Is it the case that the problems these pacemakers are meant to resolve do only last a week or less or does it mean multiple surgeries over time to impant new pacemakers?

From link in opening post:
The timescales for stable operation and complete bioresorption can be tailored to meet specific clinical requirements. “Devices can be coated with materials that have a slow rate of resorption, which would ‘program’ the lifetime before the device is resorbed" (researcher states).
Also note this pacemaker is powered by external RF field that must be applied. When you no longer want pacing you turn off this driving field. And go careful with mobile phones and WiFi transmitters in the close vicinity.

Note observed range for this electromagnetic coupling to work:
The researchers also demonstrated in vivo pacing in an adult dog during open-chest surgery. They recorded a maximum pacing distance (between skin and transmission coil) of 17 cm, validating the pacemaker’s capability for long-range wireless energy transfer. These findings suggest that the device can achieve the necessary power transfer for operation in adult human patients.
From Shpalman link.

Now compare this with area coverage claimed for the Havana etc. ill feeling.
I'll copy this post to that thread.
