The Next Generation Transit Survey is crowd sourcing classification of their data to assist in identifying possible planetary transits. They’ve teamed up with the Zooniverse to do it.

A nice way to spend idle time if you are interested.

Zooniverse is all mechanical turk, but for SCIENCE!

Thank you for sharing.

Here is a call for search of distant worlds.

https://arstechnica.com/science/2021/10 ... et-hunter/

AI is mature for seeking patterns, but the human eye sometimes is sharper.
While supercomputers digest numerous data samples overnight, we might find one or two missed, but important.

My position came recently, that for any targeted mission, all the collected data should be shared to several parallel undergoing ones. And exoplanets search is a key one of them.

Habitable zones and conditions of a planet should go with all the approaches, including ‘Earth-like’ stable systems, gas giants, ice, etcetera.
AI recognition is powerful for sure. But in order to be effective, data processing needs dedicated supercomputers, money and power consumption, hence environment pollution.

It is really great to have this public opportunity and great news for astronomers.
