having that swing is a necessary but not sufficient condition for it meaning a thing

Nobody is really that surprised.
Hadn’t realised anyone thought antimatter had antimass

Worth checking though that gravity affected antimatter mass in the same way as matter mass.
More importantly (I reckon) is that if you can do basic bulk physics on reasonable quantities (for a certain definition of reasonable), then you can check whether there are any differences compared to ordinary matter.
My avatar was a scientific result that was later found to be 'mistaken' - I rarely claim to be 100% correct
ETA 5/8/20: I've been advised that the result was correct, it was the initial interpretation that needed to be withdrawn
Meta? I'd say so!

While some people thought that antimatter might have to fall upwards for time-reversal symmetry, others pointed out that if you threw a ball in the air and caught it, it would look the same forwards or backwards in time.

My favourite nonsense idea was that matter attracts matter and antimatter repels antimatter, while matter would be attracted to matter but antimatter would be repelled so the matter would chase the antimatter. Or maybe the other way around.

So now the search is on for the Benny Hill particle.
