And the award for the most evidence-free, knee jerk, hysterical, anti-tech article of the year goes to... this steaming pile of ...

I couldn't even face reading the whole thing but it is an excellent collection of catchphrases if you want to play anti-tech bingo or some sort of skeptic drinking game.

It's too late to put it in my skeptic round-up, sadly.

Oh, and he was obviously never a smoker. They are NOTHING alike.

It's not even a good enough piece to get worked up about (yes, I did read it all - so you don't have to), not even being full of sound and fury, but definitely signifying nothing.

Clichéd and lacking in anything approaching original thought; the kind of thing I might expect a lazy and none too bright 6th former to rattle off at the last minute as a general studies essay, hoping that Sir or Miss is too over-worked to notice that they've handed in another piece of trivial shite.

It's Christmas week: most all the Graun editorial staff are on holiday and the skeleton crew left behind are resentful and/or pissed and just letting any old gubbins through.

Thought this was going to be about how 5G is going to kill us all but it seems it's just a typical modern life is rubbish vent. 10 minutes ago the world was ruined because everyone was walking around with bluetooth earpieces talking to themselves like mad people. TV will soften our brains. Sitting indoors reading books will make our children pallid short-sighted weaklings. Fire is for softies, if you're cold hunt some more woolly mammoth.

There's a few young fogies who write for the Guardian about the evils of tech and how they live off grid. Because they can afford to.

He seems upset that people are concentrating on their smartphones rather than on him.

Probably because he’s such a grump.

For a bit of context, here's Socrates on this new-fangled "Writing" technology.
When it has once been written down, every discourse roams about everywhere, reaching indiscriminately those with understanding no less than those who have no business with it, and it doesn’t know to whom it should speak and to whom it should not.

Snail mail. And of course he's fine with everyone else using tech to get his stuff published.
