New, broader spectrum HPV vaccine being trialled

The trial is significant, not only because the vaccine gets more flavours of HPV than others (five), but because it aims at extending the range of ages in the label for women eligible for it from 25 to 55 (men who have sex with men can get the existing one to age 45 it says).

And, potentially eligible peeps can apply to join the trial. Send an electronic pigeon to hpv-study@wrh.ox.ac.uk.

Interesting, thanks for posting.

Also discussions in various discussiony-parts that one dose (of the existing vaccine) may be as effective as two/three doses.

Plus fun fact - Spoiler:
* has (possibly 'had', this was couple of years back) globally the highest uptake of HPV vaccine across their eligible population. This article is quite nicely in highlighting why - a huge amount of public engagement and outreach, before and during immunisations, being core to the roll-out

* Spoilered in case you wish to play a guessing game.

I was going to post a link to this one, but with a snarky title about it being fake news or summat, 'cos we all know, thanks to those courageous vaxx resistance fighters, that no clinical trials are ever done on vaccines...

Good news, my kids will start to be eligible in a couple of years. Hopefully it’ll be available then.
