undercover anti-vax investigation in Canada
Interesting twitter thread and article about Canadian journalists going undercover to find out information on tactics by anti-vax groups and their funding. They found that though Facebook claims to have cracked down on the groups operating on there, some were still appearing at the top of searches.
Some anti-vax groups are recommending that people use AmazonSmile to raise funds.

Ooh that's good, thanks for highlighting. Some laudable work from the journalists, who no doubt are already the subject of vile hate campaigns from antivaxxers who have no other way to back up their horrendous viewpoints.
Less flippantly, from that link -
I am interested to know that. Instead, I'll do the gig for $2999. And to think that when I gave my provax public talks, the agreement was only for my travel expenses to be reimbursed.

In some ways, you have to admire the sheer brassneck of someone who buys Brasso in excess to polish up their extensive collection of falsehoods.Wakefield's lawyer, Jim Moody, confirmed his client has raised "a few million" dollars for the cause but said he is not a "profiteer on this issue."
Blimey, what on earth happened to his peer-reviewed outputs? C'mon Andy, I bet you got stories to tell! What's that? Three grand? Blimey, don't think I'll bother.Moody said the money was originally put toward research projects, but Wakefield has since pivoted, and "most of his output now is in advocacy, film, written work and speeches, and not in published research papers."

Wakefield has since pivoted... to where the money is

Pivoted?
Mr Lying Trousers Fraudy Pants was always about the money: the motivation for that paper was, as Brian Deer revealed, purely financial. Why else would a gastro-entrologist with f.ck all training or experience in autism or anything to do with child development or MH or any remotely close areas suddenly leap all over these things?
Oh, thanks for the links - very interesting!

Remember the Conspira-sea cruise where Wakefield was a star turn? He comes as unhinged, in addition to being a grifter.

That's an interesting link too. Especially the post on pseudolaw. Shrout sounds like a FOTL
And remember that if you botch the exit, the carnival of reaction may be coming to a town near you.

Wakefield is not unhinged. Many of his supporters are though. John Stone anyone? He panders to them, because it keeps the dollars rolling in.FredM wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 9:09 amRemember the Conspira-sea cruise where Wakefield was a star turn? He comes as unhinged, in addition to being a grifter.
Here grows much rhubarb.

It's so blatant - thanks for the links, Stephanie
Have you considered stupidity as an explanation

also I was really just using the quote from the article... which was "Wakefield has since pivoted" to meanly suggest a reason why he might have more interest in films and speeches than published research papers. it's not like I'm unfamiliar with what he got up to, I've been hanging out with you lot for 10 years.

Every time he opens his gob, Jenner pivots in his grave.
Just tell 'em I'm broke and don't come round here no more.

Yeah, I know you know: my comment was aimed at anyone passing who doesn't know FraudyPants' background, which seems to more than I'd expect from reading BTL comments in different places over the years (like those who assume that 'cos he was a medic he must know about autism or think he can still be called Dr when he doesn't have a doctorate level degree and merely had the UK-ian honorific title and all that class of thing).Stephanie wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 12:58 pmalso I was really just using the quote from the article... which was "Wakefield has since pivoted" to meanly suggest a reason why he might have more interest in films and speeches than published research papers. it's not like I'm unfamiliar with what he got up to, I've been hanging out with you lot for 10 years.
